re: How many more portal players?

I’d like to see us get 2 more OL and 1 more QB which would bring us to 85.
Beyond that only impact players (at any position) if opportunity arises.

We'll be somewhere between 30-35 portal commits when all is said and done.
Still need OL, DB, LB, EDGE. Also need another QB either walk on or late signing period

Like others said we need at a minimum 2 more ol but I’d like to get our totally number up to 15 that’s 4 more.
After that nothing else is an absolute need but we’ll keep adding if the right guy comes available.
I’d like a bigger rb if possible to get us to 5 as well.

I like to see more studs from smaller schools (Troy, etc.) added to the roster for depth. Give them the minimum and see if you can find a star.

It will be more than 30. You need 3 OL, a QB, a DE, a LB, and a DB. I think it'll be around 33-34

These arent really in the portal much at this point
You are looking at mostly guys with no experience or guys with experience who werent particularly good

We still need a big bruising RB. After watching Durham and Berry carry the load, this could be a make or break position. We need 3 running backs at all time that can take it to the house .

Yes another RB to give us 5. One with decent pass protection skills.
Another qb.
More OL
Defense we add selectively to improve and deepen the Defense
Don’t forget the players in the portal can come back if Lane decides they are the best option and they want to stay. I see one or two that might fit that category.
I will be surprised if we roster less than 90 by the end of the month.

I want quality over quantity also. I would say 1 OL, 1 CB, and 1 Edge/DE to be a little more specific. Also a LB wouldn't hurt. You need 3 QBs for sure, so unless the preferred walk-on University High QB would be SEC ready in an emergency, another QB would be necessary also.

We will likely take 2 or 3 more O line guys. How many of the portal O line guys are clear starters? Not many. And Oline misses are common. Most years we have 14 on the roster, and are currently at 11. Harper and Seaton would be nice adds.
Adding another pass rushing DE is a big need.
We need another CB and another Safety. Current starters look good, but need depth.
We need another QB. 2 + preferred walk-on is light. And our biggest name is recovering from injury.
A short yardage back would be a nice luxury.

No need to get 2 or 3 more OL if they aren't quality guys. And having 14 on the roster is worthless if you can trust them to be put in the game. That was one of the current issues which is why the ineffective starters were really never replaced. We will find out a LOT by the REAL effectiveness of ineffective LSU tarters on OTHER teams. That will be fascinating and will tell us how much of the blame resided on OL coach Brad Davis.
1 more CB is more important IMO than 1 more S.

They are definitely going more than 30. Too many depth holes at minimum and you don't have multiple surefire starters on OL yet. Your only in stone guy is Moore and MAYBE Davis. This is my opinion:
2-3 OL starters - need a LT starter especially
1 QB - Longstreet but if not him we still have a walk-on. Not sure if Kiffin is comfortable with him.
1 RB - need someone who can carry the load Durham is injury prone so at least 1 more for depth. you also don't know if Berry is capable of carrying the load. I want a big name here but not sure it's likely at this point.
1 TE - depth
1 LB - depth due to Weeks injury history and none of the younger LBs have proven they're the guy yet. Singleton and Keys looked good at times against Houston then really bad. Must be confident here haven't seen anything on LBs.
1 DB - maybe someone who can play CB and S
1 edge rusher - need this badly right now. I know Baker likes to bring pressure all around but a defense always is much better if you can rush 4 to get pressure.

I agree 1 LB but I think more of the LBs than you do. Keys has played pretty darn good. I think Singleton will be good. And IF you believe West and Whit, they claim that Zach is better than either of them. Of course older brothers do have a tendency to take up for their younger ones. But with most of the plays only having 2 LBs on the field at a time, about 6 or 7 total is all you need. The Edge/DE that is dominant was certainly not playing this year for LSU. The ONLY time LSU got any pressure on the QB was when they blitzed. That was NOT true for most of the other SEC teams.

People need to remember that signing day is still coming up too, filler numbers at positions we have top end talent at but need some deep depth will probably come from highscool kids. A lot of these portal kids want guaranteed playing time. Lower rated HS kids know they have to wait.

You need a large number of Ollne guys due to how often they don't pan out and injuries. We don't have any Will Campbell's on the team and numbers will increase our likelihood of putting a good line on the field. We will surely keep adding here.
Would agree on CB over Safety, but want both. Both Mansoor Delane and AJ Haulcey were huge reasons our D was solid. Not sure we have that caliber yet, so keep adding here, too.
Might be wishful thinking, but feels like, money is no object this gear.
