I think you have to have balance. I think you plan for 4-5 not to make it to campus. Where Smoke fell short was he got all these top commits, they signed pro deals, and he had nothing left.

Yorke is a pretty solid defender. Now I don’t know about his range but he has made only 8 errors across 3 seasons, 2 last year. He fielded .995. 5 errors as a SO with a .989 and 1 error as a freshman .997

Bear made 7 errors last year (.986) and 4 errors as a SO (.991)

But like 6 of those 7 were in that one game at 3rd base against Northwestern State.

Serna is going to make an impact next year IMO. He has some serious thump.

I feel like we said the same thing about Priester last year. I hope you are right.

R. Caraway, 3B (12-20)
L. Brown, RF (12-15)
R. Arrambide, C (10-15)
L. Dardar, DH (10-15)
R. Stanfield, LF (1-5)

I'm betting more on the top end for Milam and Brown.

Priester actually had a huge fall, hit like 10 HR or something crazy

Then disappeared in winter/spring practice leading up to the season

Hard for me to imagine him being good defensively at his current weight.

I don’t think you can base your opinion solely on weight. That said, I haven’t seen him play. He might have good feet & a great glove. His weight wouldn’t matter

Is Jay even done adding yet?

I would assume so.

The only 2 names out there I worth adding IMO are Reddemann and Wiggins.

turning the 2026 roster into a more talented roster vs 2025.

Overall yes, but Anderson and Eyanson carried us a long way and will be hard to replace. Although I do think people are sleeping on Noot next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see him take the Friday spot

I think Noot could start on the weekend, but I'd be surprised if anyone but Evans starts on Fridays.

I was wondering what happened to priester after a super strong fall

Hard to say what he’s like fielding

Our pitchers have done a really good job of fielding their position the last couple years. Obviously it helps when you have super athletic pitchers like Eyanson and Evans but I think it must be a point of emphasis in practice. Evans on the mound could help mitigate some issues with defense at 1B

Priester could not physically catch the ball. Like everyone thought Arrambide was bad. Priester was much worse when I saw them scrimmage.

Correct, the talent distribution continues to strengthen year after year.

Maineri's teams towards the end were notorious for having some dead weight at the end of the bench...with this roster limitations Jay's approach to transfer portal and roster construction will continue to set them up for success.

I saw Yorke lay down a bunt and literally almost fall down trying to get out of the box going to first. He does not carry 300 lbs or whatever he actually weighs well.

I just haven’t seen him work defensively.

To me, Arrambide was playing kind of lazy to start the year, then he got it together after a few bad games. There was no effort to block pitches and he was just slow to react to everything. Either someone lit a fire in him or the game slowed down for him because he was much better by conference play,

Most of us in here saw the same one clip. Most of us have also seen Stanny stumble out of the box on multiple ground balls this season.

I don’t think that is a good indicator of athletic ability lol and IF it were, I’m much more impressed with the big fella

I think the same could be said about all of our catchers this year. It was the strangest thing. They looked hopeless for a long time this season, then around the same time, they all seemed to get it together.

They weren’t perfect by any means, but looking at how they finished compared to how they started, it was almost a complete 180

lol people are talking like we picked Yorke up off of a beer league softball team

He has played on some pretty good teams and is widely considered one of the best bats in the country.

I’m sure he’s not super agile or anything but he’s at least serviceable or he wouldn’t be playing at this level
