I guess that's a step up from UL-Hattiesburg.
At this point, So. Miss-Lafayette might be more appropriate
And time will tell, but if you're not a big draft risk, getting innings in the SEC as a true FR pretty much limits you to MO, SC, and KY
One inning in SEC play probably correlates to 3 at most mid majors

I’ve heard from a reliable source that the pirates almost didn’t sign their first rounder from last year. Went down to the last day.

I've heard it was an actual decision that went down to the last day. We were closer than any rational person would (or probably should) believe.

Holy shite. Frick you River Hamilton
ETA: I apologize. All the best to young River. This was undoubtedly a wise decision. You’ll always be a Tiger in my heart River.

Man. Imagine throwing the #1 prospect in baseball on the 25, 26, and 27 teams.

I just do not get that. For me to pass on college it would have to be life changing money. Taxes and agent cut he is left with ok money. I get wanting to start a pro career, but the odds of getting to the majors are so slim. And minor league pay isn't that good. Seems like you would bet on yourself in an elite college program and be better than an 11th round pick 2-3 years later.

Don't act like you don't know Jason Armstrong, the pride of Severn, and an OG Mike Miley Cardinal.

I don't think it's been mentioned from this angle but I think the NIL opportunities are also getting the LSU guys higher draft bonuses. I don't think Frey would have got 1 million if the MLB didn't have to make it more enticing than returning to LSU including a significant NIL offer.

One thing I've since heard about that I hadn't considered with the Pirates drafting without a handshake deal is that it's apparently really common in the first couple rounds. At least the back part of the first and through the 2nd. Any round where your pick will get replaced the next year if you don't sign a kid, teams will take the risk.
Posted on 7/25/25 at 11:30 am to ProjectP2294
Just for perspective on where NIL is at, LSU was willing to come up with slot monies. That is not a guess
I presumed that would happen at a lower slot (higher than most would think), but it was even more eye opening on several fronts than I could imagine

It begs the questions, does Jay feel like he was that important next season? Is our NIL pool that big? Or is Jay complicit in getting our guys the most money he can?
I think it’s safe to say a combination of those three things
