You make really bad posts regardless of the board or subject matter being discussed. It's actually very impressive.

I have been saying this throughout the portal season, usually to downvotes and negative comments.

Jay is definitely going to get tired of him and his staff workimg their butts off to get beat out because LSU doesn't want to pay up. We have tremendous fan base, national championship team, we should at least be top 3 in NIL money.

100% agree... if LSU won't do it, the fans and businesses are going to have to step up to the plate. It makes me nervous, because if I was Jay, I'd get a little fed up too. He could name his price at this point..

it’s about competing and if we aren’t putting money into basketball we might as well shut it down.

thats sport will have a baseline

baseball’s wont be close to that

I think investing in basketball with the current coaching staff is just throwing money away, but that’s just me.

Select one or two things and do them well.

But did we even throw enough money into it with a lame duck coach to be competitive? Remains to be seen but to me this looks like a NIT/bubble team at best in the SEC with the coach we have. So we threw all this extra money at a sport with a coach who has done nothing positive in 3 seasons here and he still will probably accomplish nothing. To me it's pretty clear he's either gone after this season, 2 years for sure. They are trying to save as much as face for a bad hire at this point so they dont have to run to donors asking to buy him out already.

Just seems really odd to me to throw the guy at frankly a MORE popular sport arguably at your school under the bus with investment in the program compared to a coach who has done nothing but lose here.

I completely understand there's a baseline of investment of basketball needed to be done, I'm saying that doesnt really matter when you have a coach who simply cant win games anyways.

There's also a baseline investment in baseball, and we've definitely fallen behind the best at this point in that respect with this kind of move we've made. It doesnt mean we'll fallen off a cliff, but it does make it that much harder for an elite coach like Jay to form an elite roster and win the whole thing like we've seen multiple times already here in just 4 seasons. In the end, there's always going to be a few high school or portal players you're going to have to outbid other programs on and there are a few we'll simply miss out on if we dont invest as much as other programs have in baseball NIL. That's just how that cookie crumbles.

We either act like an elite baseball program and invest with the best or hope an elite coach can navigate around missing out on a few elite players because of a lack of funds compared to some other programs and hoping he can still work his magic.

The allocation is driven purely by financial projections not popularity, success, quality of coaching talent etc.

For basketball and football due to postseason opps and tv contracts $1 NIL = $2+ payout.

Unfortunately baseballs main rev driver is ticket sales which puts $1 NIL > $1 payout.

Now CJJ isn't waiting on school funds. I recall during an interview within days post omaha he rattled off the names of a few whales he was having dinner with that evening.

Honestly investing in men’s hoops with the right coach doesn’t bother me at all because it will always be the second biggest revenue generator. I have more of an issue with baseball being lumped in with other sports when it comes to revenue sharing.

They could drop the basketball program entirely and it wouldn’t hurt my feelings any. LSU is a baseball school.

Dodged one there. I remember rumors of a potential legal issue. May have been something to that...unless he just decided he wanted to go to MLB draft in '26 instead of '27.

Big loss for A&M they thought they had from the portal. I'd be leaning he more just wanted to go to the draft than anything for the move to JUCO, someone was saying on another board he got cleared up of the thing at Baylor, the person dropped charges or something.

But basketball gets the money from TV contracts regardless of whether or not we're good, right? Ticket sales are directly correlated to how good we are.

Carson Bailey going to McLennon CC to enter draft early, rather than to A&M. Not sure why tweet was yanked, unless he changed his mind again.
