His biggest mistake was hiring Rooney as pitching coach
the same pitchers South Carolina brough back from previous staff all got remarkably worse under his coaching

Cain did most of the recruiting towards the end so if he thinks that team was all his he's sadly mistaken

the pitching he left was not sec caliber and that really hindered Jay's first team

Jay gave a lot of credit after the 23 title to the prior staff
Last year, he made a subtle comment after 25 title how this team only brought back ten players from the previous team and still won

LSU would not have two titles if Paul was still the coach at LSU no matter what players he recruited

The coach at Catholic benched his son when Josh Smith took over SS as a fr pushing the other SS to 2B and his son to the bench. When it came time to work baseball camps at LSU he wouldn't let Catholic's coach work the camps anymore and he had been a bullpen catcher at LSU. He refused to go to another LSU game until Paul was gone. Josh Smith didn't have an offer from LSU until he was about to commit to MSU before LSU finally offered.

Does it go without saying that we can't even begin to predict which 2025 commits might possibly make it to campus until after the high school season?

A few are highly regarded
Logan Schmidt
Jensen hirschkorn
Santarelli
Cooper Sides
They will be tough to get to campus

The juco pitcher can actually sign before the draft if he agrees to terms as a draft and follow

i am watching Texas Alumni game. I missed Asthon Larson going to Texas, Nick. wtf

LSU should do this. They have enough young alums to make a game like this worthwhile

A couple of our pitcher commits play for TNXL Academy in Florida and they play against a lot of JUCOs. Yesterday they both pitched against Santa Fe: LINK

Baseball America updated their draft list and expanded it to 200. Here are the LSU related players I've found so far:

Name POS 4 (200)
Derek Curiel OF 8
Logan Schmidt LHP 23
Jensen Hirschkorn RHP 24
Malachi Washington OF 61
Dominic Santarelli OF/1B 62
Cooper Sides RHP 67
Steven Milam INF 84
Anthony Murphy OF 98
Nathaneal Davis OF 99
Lucas Nawrocki LHP/OF 101
Wessley Roberson OF 103
Jake Brown OF 136
CJ Weinstein SS 177
Coleton Brady RHP 200

Just seems odd that all four of our OF commits are higher ranked than Brown.

I'd say that Brown has the best chance of shooting up considering he will play SEC competition for the 3rd year but all of our commits are in geographic areas where the performance won't be discounted due to competition.

dude most of the big time HS head coaches in the state.....yea he was a total dick to them. like literally told them they needed to understand what kind of privilege it was for him to speak to them and for him to even be speaking to their players. He literally told the top recruit in the state one of the years "son, you need to understand you are in the presence of greatness and understand how much of a privilege it is for me to even speak to you" and this was the recruits first time speaking to Paul. It was the first thing Paul said to him when he walked in Pauls office to meet him. he still got the kid but it was because he grew up dreaming of playing at LSU, not because of Paul.

Paul was a narcistic fricking a-hole. good riddance. I hope Jay wins another and it eats at him. Go see how his former players speak about him, they wont say anything bad but they arent saying much good either. Hell many talk way more highly of Jay as a person than they do Paul.

I watched him play in a pre-season tournament for Catholic as a SO and he was committed to LSU at the time. Plenty of reasons to fault CPM, but identifying Smith as a prospect late isn't one of them

I saw him at the umpires tourney at Live Oak. Cold and windy. Faced a Kentucky committed arm and grounded out.

Only AB I got to see, but yeah, kid has size and tools and will be one to watch. Doubt he’s a big draft risk, but he can certainly make OK sweat it this year

Baseball America put out a pre season bracketology. We’re projected the 2 overall seed. But they have Yale as the 4 seed in our regional.

We’re fricked and the season hasn’t started yet. Jack Ohman gonna own us.

So I guess Yale has a legit arm.

Last time I heard Yale and baseball in the same sentence was a George Bush reference

Obviously I was being facetious, but yeah, Yale has a legit 1st rounder for 2027. Right now he’s considered in the top tier right below Dax Whitney.

If he pitches against LSU in Alex Box, he'll be pitching for LSU in 2027. Lol
