The shine wore off down the stretch for him, but he's still better than Beck IMO.

Makes sense. Miami has made it clear they really have no interest in going the HS route for Qbs

Simpson looked great the first part of the year. I was envious of that Grubb offense and Ty. Then the shine wore off but part of it was injury related I think. He wasn't 100% down the stretch.

6.5 M for a college quarterback for one season?

If he's Michael Vick or Joe Burrow then okay. Otherwise that's an insane waste of money

I really hate what has happened to college football.

This would not have happened if the NCAA and College Presidents would have gotten ahead of this 6 or 7 years ago.

The writing was on the wall. Players were going to get the naming rights for jerseys, autograph signings, endorsements, i.e.,real pay for legitimate reasons. Instead, the PTB sat on their asses and pontificated on the amateur status of "student athletes" while raking in mega dollars from media rights and selling jerseys with player names while saying players getting a free hamburger was an "improper benefit".
When the courts ruled in favor of athletes, the NCAA had no pre-prepared, carefully thought out guidelines for legitimate NIL opportunities. Others (boosters) rushed in and made their own rules.
Similarly they screwed the pooch on the portal... multiple times.
Inept leadership. Greedy leadership. It's a recurring theme.

If he’s smart he will take it. That’s a substantial amount of money for a it that will likely fizzle out after a couple years
