I'm not sure who is failing more, the people that questioned his football talent in the thread initially, or the people that are trying to call out people that questioned his football talent based on his baseball performance.

Yeah.. pretty irrelevant actually. Although he was all set to walk on the football team this past fall, it's safe to say he made the right choice in putting all of his energy into baseball. Dude is a good kid too.. glad to see him doing so well.

He have likely been a stud on the field as well. No way he rides the bench for 4 years. Can't blame him for focusing on the sport in which he'll start for as long as he's there.

His baseball ability was questioned as well.

I know 8 pages is tl;dr, but know what you're talking about before you post, ok?

I have said this before. An athlete who is special on a baseball field is at best average on a football field. On a football field you have guys like Jeremy Hill or Mingo that probably can run with Laird (they might be a little slower) but outweigh him by 50 plus pounds. Katz and Rymes don't exactly set the bar for all around athleticism. It is much easier to stand out with athleticism on a baseball field. These football players are monsters. Laird made the right decision. Leave the big boys to play football. I am saying this and I love the way Laird plays the game. Maybe he could have been another Jack Hunt but he was smart enough to keep his body away from that punishment.

yea i read the first couple pages and he definitely wasn't showed any love either way. It was just made worse by the idiot that kept arguing that he better than jarvis landry in football. That was pretty stupid to say then and seems even more retarded now.

Dude,

I agree with you that Laird is not better than Landry, etc. but don't follow that up with an ignorant statement that.."he played shitty competition."

He didn't just play 1A competition. And, keep in mind, his offensive line, QB, etc. are also 1A. So, it's all relative.

With your logic the likes of Steven Ridley, Charles Scott, Quinn Johnson, Tyson Jackson, Marcus Spears, Michael Clayton, Chad Jones, etc. etc. etc. would all not be any good.

The class he played in is irrelevant. Remember, all of his supporting cast is 1A as well.

I don't think his logic was that small school players can't be good, it's just that if you're going to make stats the basis for saying a player is superior to people already on the team then level of competition and other factors should be taken into consideration.

Mind your business dude . He said he only mention that he had better stats and that was a lie. Dude thinks better reciever and better stats mean the same thing so your quote just proved my point to. Thanks

I'll put his high school numbers, rings, and MVPs against anyone on the roster.

ETA: Just like I'll do the same with Tebow in college. Doesn't mean he'd transition to the next level. Obviously baseball was the route for him as he started as a walk on from Day 1.

I got banned for bumping old threads like this.

Be careful.

I bumped the Mo Claiborne commit thread and got the axe. That thread made this one look like child's play.
