I might be in the minority, but I’m in favor of all schools trying to force their contracts to be enforced to the fullest extent

So in this case you should be in favor of a buyout able to be payed and him not being held hostage of being where he wants to be. If there is indeed a buyout of course.

The buyout is the way out of the contract, that is why it is spelled out in the contract. The contract does not give ownership of a player.

Why is that so hard to comprehend?

Why can't he just quit Ole Miss as a student and simply enroll at LSU?

This is the most exciting era for CFB ever. The people on here complaining about it are luddites that will be left in the dust

It’s more of the year by year free agency. Yes, I believe many would agree with me that this isn’t awesome. We are crushing the portal right now, so sure, we love it. That doesn’t make it good.

TJ Finley playing for what, 7 schools? Carson Beck saying he graduated two years ago, he doesn’t have class starting this week?

Makes it great, right?

If he put in portal request prior to deadline and he has a buyout in contract.. not sure what leg they have to stand on.

It’s football. Let’s just really be honest for a change. Do you really give a shite about what classes these guys are enrolled in or what their major is? I hope they are doing something to set themselves up for life after football, but honestly, for the most part I don’t really give a shite as long as they can help us win football games.

Most of y’all are butthurt about the freedom of movement players have and the fact that they can get paid which incentivizes that movement

If that’s what’s in his contract, absolutely.

He may have to go that route, seems like OM is pulling the Washington and doing anything possible to prevent him from transferring

Can you post a link to his contract? I haven’t read it yet. If that’s what his contract states, I’m totally fine with that.

I’m in favor of ALL parties having to abide by the contract that they willingly signed. Why is that so hard to comprehend?

I’m more referring to the fact that I don’t like COLLEGE athletes playing for 7 years.

I can respect that, we’re together there. But admittedly, a few weeks ago I would’ve gladly taken Chambliss with a waiver had I not known what I know now

I absolutely would have too. Have a feeling he will get the extra year, too.

In pro sports, players can hold out if they don’t like their contract, but other teams are not allowed to sign them. There needs to be a governing body with teeth overseeing this mess of a system that could enforce similar rules. A player can opt out, but no one can sign him.

If I remember correctly, the LBer from Cal was already enrolled and working out with the Clemson team before he just walked out. Now he’s at Ole Miss.

No I do not have a copy but all of the people from the OM side keep referring to the buyout and it having to be paid so it is reasonable to believe there is a buyout.

If there is a buyout then "abiding by the contract" is as simple as paying the buyout. That is the way out. Pretty straightforward.

Just like OM is required to enter him into the portal if he wishes, contract be damned even if no buyout, he would just have to suffer whatever penalties are in the contract. OM is just being butthurt.

He can unenroll and we can pay the buyout if he really wants to leave.
