No it wasn’t. He was showing in portal before it closed.

No I do not have a copy but all of the people from the OM side keep referring to the buyout and it having to be paid so it is reasonable to believe there is a buyout.

If there is a buyout then "abiding by the contract" is as simple as paying the buyout. That is the way out. Pretty straightforward.

Just like OM is required to enter him into the portal if he wishes, contract be damned even if no buyout, he would just have to suffer whatever penalties are in the contract. OM is just being butthurt.

If Ole Miss is required to enter him in the portal, then they will do that. I don’t see the problem.

The thing is, the contract has a buyout. Is that not effectively an exit clause?

Gotta block them and tell Lane to quit retweeting them

There needs to be a governing body with teeth overseeing this mess of a system that could enforce similar rules.

You do understand that historically there has been one of those. It’s called the NCAA. They are the incompetent assholes who wielded one-sided power and control for decades that made them the rich fat ficks that they are.

Now that the players, whose backs they gottten even richer off of have some modicum of power and the ability to get paid for their labor/contributions, you have a problem?

But all of this makes you uncomfortable huh, poor you

I have no problem with players getting compensated and having options. I have a problem with a system that is pure chaos. This not good for anyone in the long run when enough fans get fed up with it and the revenue drops significantly. Having structure doesn’t prevent players from seeking better opportunities.

I think “enough” fans are already fed up, but I also know revenue and viewership is climbing more than ever. Some guardrails will eventually be put in place, but the CFB of old is a thing of the past.

The timeline needs to be re-evaluated. Institutions shouldn’t be allowed to pressure kids into signing something prior to the opening of the portal window, then holding them hostage when the window opens and they now have opportunities that supersede what they’ve already agreed to

aren't they actively taking a player from clemson that already signed there and enrolled in classes?

So it's going to bite them in the arse one way or the other. They are actually cutting off their nose to spite their face. This is great.

Whatever agreement exists between Ole Miss and Umanmielen is irrelevant to the NCAA rules.

And federal ones

I think that every player not signed to a multi-year agreement should automatically go into the transfer portal. They are sniffing around anyway, as are the schools. That takes away the leverage teams have to try to force players not to enter. Everyone then has a free opportunity to entertain offers, but once they sign they cannot be signed by another team until after the next season. Hopefully teams and players will start to enter into multi-year arrangements with options and buyouts like you would typically see in pro leagues. Something has to happen to bring more stability to the system.

Bruh they can’t just hold him hostage against his will if he doesn’t want to be there and LSU is willing to pay the buyout. This is absolutely ludicrous what Ole Miss is trying to pull here.

Also why wasn’t Ole Miss trying to pull this with Dottery and Lee? I assumed they had signed contracts as well.

Sign a contract for what though?

Contracts are broken all the time

Yep! If there is a buyout clause, they have no grounds to contest it.

Also, they have no grounds because they did the same thing with Luke Ferrelli. Ben Garrett doesn't mention that because it nukes the narrative he is trying to push.

If Ole Miss is trying to hold him, I hope the kid gets a lawyer and they report their sorry asses to the NCAA.

Lastly, we all will know what the deal is by Tuesday.

So it's okay for Ole Miss to talk to someone else at a different school that had a signed contract? But it's not okay for an Ole Miss player to do the same thing? IF there is a buyout in the contract, they don't have a leg to stand on.
