Or maybe they shouldn't have lied to the players?

He wasn't lied to. He didn't sign anything nefarious or that he or his agent wasn't privvy to. It's the same issue Demond Williams ran into. Someone has to pay the buyout.

Couldn’t he unenroll and enroll at LSU? Wouldn’t that allow them to give him extra NIL on his contract to pay the buyout? That way it technically is paid by him and not LSU.

A buyout should only be triggered if he would actually try to sign elsewhere. It has nothing to do with him going in the portal. he doesn’t have to sign elsewhere just bc he goes into the portal.

The Ole Miss Spirit Ho says he expects Umanmielen back for Ole Miss

I get it from LSU’s side. A non 3-down edge commanding that type of price tag? I “think” Jordan Ross could potentially replicate the production Umanmielen provided.

And use those funds on Seaton.

A buyout is only triggered if he violates the terms of the revenue sharing agreement, which he would and we would pay out and be penalized for next year. OM must release him or else they risk NCAA scrutiny and action. The NCAA will side with the athlete in the foreseeable future, failure to do so would risk a lawsuit for pay-for-play and would open the door for unionization action across collegiate athletics. It’s only a matter of time before it happens but surely OM ain’t that stupid to open Pandora’s box, or maybe they are

They can’t refuse to enter him to the portal.
LSU can’t pay a buyout before he enters the portal.
That post is bullshite.

If we can l lock him in under 2m all in (500k buyout), then im in.

Feel like he'd easily command 2m+ on the open market for the right team. For that price, im out.

Why not just go through the process, then sue if LSU doesn't meet the requirements?

Sue LSU for what? They didn’t sign the contract. They can only sue the player.

They also are required by the NCAA to submit the paperwork. If they refuse he can actually sue and he would have actual damages not a liquidation clause (which would likely be ruled as not valid anyway).

It’s basically 2 different issues. One is contract law and the other is NCAA rules. Ole Miss is going to screw themselves by breaking NCAA rules.

I wanted the Missouri kid but this seems like a better value IMO. Our ability to rotate DL will be something we haven’t had in a while, this kid is the cherry on top if we can grab him

Ole Miss is waiting on the buyout to get paid before they do anything.

They don't get to do that. The NCAA will make that clear if they don't process the paperwork by the deadline.

I didn't say to sue LSU. Nobody cares if you're a lawyer. I don't anyway.

So they just give him $300K less from the revenue share pool and supplement it with $300K more in NIL.

I have absolutely no inside knowledge on this one but I can guarantee you that OM “insiders” have no clue either. They haven’t gotten a single thing right since I’ve been following the Kiffin saga

Depends when he entered the portal. It’s either a form the player submits or done on computer that notifies compliance then it’s 48 business hours or OM violates NCAA rules. I doubt compliance works the weekend and NCAA damn sure doesn’t, also Monday is a holiday for many. LSU would sign him to a contract that would include his buyout money which would be paid to OM. If they slow play he walks ,enrolls at LSU, sues OM and it’s another Xavier Lewis situation.

How can the dictate where buy out comes from?

You have damages or not and it can be resolved by cash end of story

Holding players like this isn’t going to help them in the future . If they have one .
