I look at it as a value thing, I agree with Lester, I don’t think these guys are more talented necessarily with the ceiling of the guys we lost but fit what we are gonna do a lot better for a lot less money. The Maryland guard does look to be a slight upgrade over Thompson and Echols in my opinion. Getting an actual TE that can help chip a DE or a rb that is really good at pass pro will help a ton too. I think we did do that as well.

I keep seeing people say that the roster is stacked. I'm not seeing a stacked roster. Are you?

Chester is a nothing but the other guys all have starting SEC upside. Specifically Curne-Adams-Echols. Ory Williams and Calloway are good developmental tackles. Mubenga will be much better than he was here.
Ory Williams will turn out to be a good player in a yr or two. I don't think Calloway was ever going to see the field at lsu.
And I agree curne, adams, and echols were all loses.

Out of all we lost, I think Curne had the most potential.
Echols can be very good and showed flashes, he’s just got bad footwork which makes him inconsistent.
Adams I really liked but I’m not sure what he was asking for price wise.
Mubenga needs to drop down a level and move to Center, he’s not strong enough to handle guard. I don’t think Calloway ever would have seen the field here so hard to judge that one. I liked Ory as a developmental piece, thought he played well at the end of last year.
However I think we’ve done a great job in replacing those guys with Bah, Harper, Strey and being able to retain Moore.

IMO, the jury is still out on how good/bad these departing OL were at LSU. I think an accepted fact is that Brad Davis was NOT a good OL coach. The case for at least some of these OL being good was 1) their recruiting ratings if you believe those 2) their other college offers were good.
Having said that, Chester and Mubenga IMO after watching them are NOT good OL. Coaching shouldn't be required to do simple OL blocking against simple defensive schemes. Curne also is NOT an OT unless somehow a new coach can magically make his feet move faster. He was making the DE look like DC's Flash by comparison. But can Curne be a good OG...probably. How about some of the others who left. The proof will be at the schools they went to are they good starters for those schools or just substitutes.

I would've liked to either keep or williams or adams. Bah is a real piece. I'm worried about tackle.

Tyree Adams graded as one of the worst tackles in the sec

No, they have not brought in a ton of front-end talent, but you have to understand human nature. They attribute large number of commits to = killing it. When in reality they just had to fill a 1/3 of the roster with transfers.
The guy said it looks like one of Saban's rosters (

He wasn't great and he wasn't really bad. He was the 11th best graded LT. The problem is, they don't have a LT with better tape on the roster.

Bingo. Hate to see it but should still be a net positive.

was painful watching the guys try to block and seeing DL run right around them time after time.
It bothered me even more watching a man Chester's size getting manhandled by Southeastern.

If we get Seaton we will have tons of depth at OL

Sorry, but Curne was awful.
He showed no potential.
Straight up let guys by him without even making an effort to block them in any sort of way.

LSU’s offensive line in 2025 was historically bad. They were at times manhandled by teams like Southeastern, WK and even NSU. SEC teams ate LSU QBs.
Those players may have been rated higher coming in but they were apparently “ruined” by the soft culture. LSU couldn’t get a yard from the one yard line so many times it’s amazing.

I think people are undermining the difference having James Cregg back will make. He and Wolfford will make the o-line much better

It is funny until you realize they have no legit replacement. Every player that took at snap at LT for LSU last year is gone. They've brought 1 player in with LT snaps, and he was much much worse than Tyree Adams. Hopefully they can get the Colorado kid

Leavitt should help masks pass protection issues as well with his ability to evade pressure.
Then I trust Kiffin and Co. to game plan well enough to get the run game going.

I think the players we were retained help offset that some. Curne, Adams and Echols have talent, but so do Thomas, Moore and Davis, even if Davis needs a lot of work to harness it. Harper was a really nice portal pickup talent-wise, even if he lacks experience. We’ll see about the rest.
