With proper coaching, he’d put up 445.

I was 425 as a true freshman. Granted I weighed 278. Was a LONG time ago.

425 is pretty good, nothing overly sensational.

People are going to jerk off to this, but 1.5x bodyweight for bench is the point that strength is really legit. That would be closer to 500 pounds for a man weighing 335.

No shite though, the kid is strong. he's legit more muscle than flab, and there's a lot of OLinemen who can't say that.

That kid is strong as heck doing that as easily as he did with his grip in close like that. As a freshman. Looks very lean for 335. Like and NFL tackle body already.

>That's literally what 5 Star means

i think it means they have first round draft potential, not that they are ready to be day one starters. many 5 stars are 5 star athletic monsters that still require skills to become starters and eventually first round picks.

thats why the rating services give as many 5 stars per season as the sport has draft picks. these are the 32 most likely guys to be first rounders. not necessarily day one college starters.

Forget the bench press. One of the most athletic things I have ever seen in my life...probably #1...was him doing somersaults like a cheerleader. BTW, he did them BETTER than most cheerleaders. That is fricking unbelievable that a guy that big could do that. I can't find the video but it was out there a few months ago.

If someone finds it post THAT and really be impressed.

Really hope KJ can get down to that 225 range for more speed and he keeps the power

Have you seen Curne's HS highlight video?

It looks like Godzilla terrorizing Tokyo. He blocked one guy all the way off the field and into the band.

Would like to see him doing some relevant exercise like power cleans. Hopefully, he's not wasting too much time in the gym doing bench press

are you under the impression that players are coming up with their own off season strength and conditioning routine?

there's a coach that is telling them exactly what to do ,what lifts, what reps, what percentage of y
the players max.

the off season program is probably happening a week or so after the spring game until camp starts and the lifts will change a little during camp and during the season.

I may be wrong about when they do their off season program but I do know that they are kept busy throughout the year and dont have much of a chance to do their own thing .im sure they workout at home during breaks from school but thats about it

Most 5-stars expect to see the field year 1.

I’m sure they all “expect” it. Doesn’t mean they will all be meaningful contributors.

Of the 32 5-star recruits in the 2024 class (using On3 industry rankings):
- 19 did not start a single game.
- 4 started less than half of their teams’ games.
- 9 started at least half of the games.

Almost all of them “saw the field” (including the guys who redshirted) but most did not become full time starters as freshmen. OL is also a bit different in that you don’t really rotate in reserves at those positions. So it’s harder for a player on the OL to provide a meaningful contribution without being a starter.

That said, the door should certainly be open for him to compete given the turnover on the OL from last year.
