"He's calling the students 'paper tigers'."
-Gary Danielson
Referring to Tebow imitating a cell phone call after a score.
I hate both of them. They both seem far removed from what is actually happening on the field. Out of touch!

They are irritating both of them , neither is the best at anything their bias toward everyone we play is just disgusting to hear.
This is your typical response as to why so many LSU fans hate (insert broadcast team, network, etc). It's truly is amazing just how many people hate LSU. Is there some sort of secret convention held every spring to discuss new reasons to hate LSU?
Just listen to an interview with Danielson, they hear the same shite from the dumbasses in every SEC fanbase. Pretty amazing that they are biased towards all 14 SEC teams, and at the same time hate all 14 teams.
Gary is very good at illustrating the "play behind the play" so to speak, and Verne (while making mistakes) is there to provide ambiance to the broadcast. I love the people that get completely bent out of shape when Verne makes a mistake re: down and distance, who made the tackle, was the ball caught, etc. YOU'RE WATCHING THE frickING GAME!!! Can you not see what happend without having to rely on the play-by-play guy to tell you?
The only acceptable announcers for many LSU fans would have 3 hours of dialogue like this:
PBP man: WOW!!! ANOTHER GREAT PLAY BY LSU!!!! ALABAMA SUCKS TODAY!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW WELL THE TIGERS ARE PLAYING DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE OFFICIALS ARE CLEARLY IN FAVOR OF ALABAMA!!!
Color guy: You're right on!! LSU might be the best team in the country right now. They haven't made any mistakes or dumb plays all game. Mettenberger is 9/20 in the game, but I think we can all agree that the 11 incompletions are a result of pass interference that wasn't called.
PBP: TOUCHDOWN LSU!!!!!!!!
(later in the game)
PBP: (in a muted tone) touchdown Alabama. While those losers celebrate, let's go to Tracy for a story on just how great the LSU fanbase is.

I dont think the 2 care two much for LSU. just my Opinion.

True or not, the perception is that they are biased ag. LSU, particularly the idiot Verne. He seems to get overly-excited when LSU's opponent makes a big play. For example, in the 2011 game at Alabama, right before the end of the 1st half, Russell Shephard caught a long pass, and Verne's call was, "Intercepted! Intercepted by Alabama! OH NO! Shephard caught it!"
Meh -- I don't know. I don't like CBS, their stupid music. Verne is a guffawing idiot, more annoying than anything. Gary is OK.

Whether or not I'll sound stupid , I couldn't care less but my question is why do the announcers collect so much hate from the rant? Or anywhere else for that matter.
you sound intelligent to me; and independent also. the overwhelming opinion here is that the CBS announcers suck; and the ESPN announcers suck; and that any announcer that does LSU football sucks no matter the network. i rarely hear a favorable word about any of them. it makes me wonder why they bother to even listen. just a guess, but i think if an announcer doesn't praise LSU excessivily and bash our opponent, they hate LSU. another possible answer to your question is the psychology of the beast; many people are "programmed" to tear down others in places of authority and visibility. somehow, being critical and passing judgement makes them feel more important.

This is just dumb.
He gets overly excited at any big play. Period. It just so happens that you are quiet/pissed when big plays happen against LSU, where as you are fired up/cheering/etc when big plays happen for LSU. You likely just don't hear them.
Go listen to Verne's call of TM7's 2nd punt return against UGA (not the TD) and get back to me.

I enjoy Verne. Sure, he makes some mistakes, but you can tell he really enjoys what he does and doesn't take himself too seriously.

No they hate listening to Verne and danielson because they can ovbiously comprehend what you cannot

Because Verne is more concerned about scotch than he is with the play on the field

I personally dismiss any of his opinions due to the fact that he is so arrogant that he REFUSES to refer to us as LSU (after being asked numerous times to please stop calling us "Louisiana State")
Highly doubt this.
Really you're mad because he calls us Louisiana State?
God we are such whiney figs.

For one thing, I absolutely hate the way they pronounce "Baton Rouge" with the exaggerated phony French accent. Pay attention. They do this every time they broadcast LSU games. I'm sure to them it is some kind of insider joke, but to me it is just completely annoying.
The other thing about Verne and Gary is that they work for CBS. And it seems to me like CBS really stuffs in the commercial breaks - which requires way more unnecessary time-outs, which I believe wrecks the flow of the game.

Don't forget that they LOVE BAMA! and they love Aaron Murray, Johnny F., Missouri, and never ever forget their love affair with Tebow.

Uncle Verne is the best.

Verne is a goof. He just babbles.
He is clearly not as sharp as he used to be. I think they keep the team together because of the history and the fact they have worked well together.
Verne is 73. He started college about the time LSU won the '58 championship. Give him a little slack--let's see how any of us are still alive at that age, much less doing a 3-4 hour pressurized broadcast where every mistake is scrutinized.

In my opinion the Fox announcer seem to be the best. It's a shame they likely only call one SEC game a year. (Cotton Bowl)
And they have Erin Andrews.
And they have Erin Andrews.
