Up to eight teams now. LINK which means no Birmingham Bowl yet. And good for all of them. It’s the only way to fix this corrupt system where E$PN determines all the matchups based on ratings and not who actually deserves to be there. The Bama Mulligan is back, the same one that cost us the ‘11 title when we should have played Okie State.
Glad teams are finally standing up and hitting the corrupt monopoly where it hurts by denying them content. Maybe E$PN can go back to televising the Australian Football League!

Neuter Dame wants you to think they deserved to be in the CFP so they do not take a Bowl Game to remove the chance they would lose that game as well.

A&M will show the world how soft the ACC is and will destroy OSU!!

One of my favorite quotes. Right there with Travis Daniels when he gave his redshirt up to guard Tennessee WR in the 2001 SEC championship game. "I play for the name on my helmet, not the name on the back of my jersey."

Vegas Odds makers would make ND the favorite over BAMA, Miami and BYU in a head to head right now. That was reported by a ESPN reporter who deals with the betting side of football!

This makes no sense to me also. Unless the coaching staff is leaving and you do not have the staff to host practices why freely give away extra if a limited commodity

CFB is in decline. Golf and baseball are on the upswing in high schools.

"If we got eleven, we gonna play" is an underrated moment in LSU football history.

Who was it that said "We'll play them in a gravel parking lot" ? Was it Burrow? And what was the context/ who were they talking about?

For us, the fans, we just have to watch the games every Saturday. For the players, it's a 4 month daily grind (August - November) in the most physically demanding of all major sports. I suspect if you took a secret ballot of players at the end of the season asking if they wanted to play in the bowl game or not, the majority would say no. Not necessarily because of the game itself. But the added 2 weeks of practice to an already long season.

Fans rarely take this into account, but players see things different from fans, because they are the ones living it every day. For us, it's just an entertainment option once a week.

Different sport, but one great example of this was revealed in an interview with Ryan Theriot. He was on Matt Moscona's show the afternoon of Game 7 of the WS (I think it was 2016, Cubs v. Indians). Having played in few game 7's in his career, Theriot was asked what a player's mindset is on the day of the game. He said something along the lines of "relief" because he knew regardless of the outcome the season was finally over. Of course, he wanted to win. But he was equally as excited about the season coming to an end because, in his words, it's a really long season and guys just want a break.

The players just want a break and a game of little to no consequence isn't really enough to override that desire of wanting a break. Perhaps that wasn't the case decades ago when a bowl appearance was a big reward for a great season. But the bowls have been so diluted now (SOLELY in the name of creating content for the TV networks) that they have mostly lost all importance

Wasn't this a self-imposed bowl ban to satisfy the ncaa over the OLOL stuff?

Now that you mentioned it I think that was the main reason for the decline. Woodward had his arse bent over pretty well for the NCAA to spank it. After Woodward didn't fight back like other schools were doing who were caught red handed doing crap, I lost any respect I might have had for the guy.

We got our asses kicked and you know what that backup WR that started at QB said post game? He said he’d line that shite up again tomorrow and do it again if he had to.

The career backup that got to play his high school position said he’d want to play the game again?? I’m shocked

Are fricking soft as baby shite. We fielded a team that consisted of probably 75% backups and a backup WR starting at QB. We got our asses kicked and you know what that backup WR that started at QB said post game? He said he’d line that shite up again tomorrow and do it again if he had to. Give me 22 Jontre Kirklin’s all day every day!

Heck yeah! He’s forever a hero

Power football has a playoff. No need for meaningless bowl games.

Gotta be honest…I have no interest in watching this offense in the Texas Bowl against Houston. Nothing about that is appealing.

True but having bowl practices that Lane and the new coaches can use to make evaluations (and decisions about portal strategy) is invaluable.
