AYS was nails on intel for a while. Blake has fallen off of late, but he still has some contacts.

Why would an AD leave a stable work environment to work in this dysfunction?

Whoever contributed to Landry campaign will probably get first nod.

If Landry would just shut up. The more he runs his mouth, the worse it gets for us.

I mean they care so much about optics I just can't see how the FSU AD could even be a consideration when he extended a coach with a huge buyout that they already want to fire. It would make no sense.

Again, I say that if he was the guy who did it. I don't really feel like looking it up.

Okay so Alford didn't hire Norvell, but it looks like he extended him.

quote:

Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell has signed a multi-year contract extension, it was announced Wednesday. Norvell, who was hired as Florida State’s 11th full-time head coach on Dec. 8, 2019, is now signed through the 2029 season, which would be his 10th at the helm of FSU’s program.

“Coach Norvell has re-established a culture that the entire Seminole Family can appreciate,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said. “We are proud of the way Coach Norvell, his staff and his team represent Florida State University on and off the field. Under Coach Norvell’s leadership we have experienced the highest grade-point average in program history multiple times, an unprecedented impact in our community and drastic improvement on the football field through him establishing a foundation of unwavering standards in all areas. I’m happy that we are going to continue climbing with Coach Norvell for years to come.”

quote:

Vote of confidence for Mike Norvell does not change the conversation
Alford's announcement does not change the conversations behind the scenes among FSU's leadership that includes President Richard McCullough, Board of Trustees Chair Peter Collins and others.

The Seminoles’ financial puzzle is complex, even as Norvell’s lucrative buyout looms as a $59 million decision.

quote:

The department’s financial reality is that the cash is spread razor thin.

There's the $400 million tied up in capital projects such as renovated Doak Campbell Stadium and the new football facility. The Seminoles' revenue stream is also significantly less than other major programs in the Big Ten and SEC due to the vast differences in media right deals across conferences.

And, of course, FSU agreed to sign Norvell's contract extension featuring a buyout that is the sixth-highest in college football.
