Jay when introducing Plog said his performance this past weekend was MLB level. I recall quite a few of strikes where hitters didn't take the bat off their shoulders. I also had a parent mention how difficult he is to hit.

On high-school players not being able to go to MLB in the draft in 2028. Jay said he will believe it when he sees it.

Radar gun not working this spring was his idea to keep velocities off the internet. Who would do something like that?

He likes the portal before the draft because his staff is prepared for it.

He has a weather lab under Alex box with three weathermen he hired.

Jay hasn't been very good at predicting the weather.

Hopefully these 3 guys can end the Sun Delays.

He will care a little less this year because there isn't a huge gap between a lot of the pitchers and apparently more depth this year. Simply wasn't going to waste his first 2 starters last year

Maybe so but I’m not gonna argue or criticize a coaches decisions that has just won the last 2 out of 3 national championships and in great positions to go 3 out of 4.

Also, after JJ was gone we were told that Josh Pierson will throw the ceremonial first pitch on February 13th!

This is the same mindset that most of y’all had with BK. Y’all are too defensive of coaches. Jay has proven to be the best coach in college baseball at the moment. That doesn’t mean he’s going to make the right decision 100% of the time. It’s ok for some people to disagree with something a coach does, it doesn’t mean they think he’s a bad coach.

Great summary Wild. There was some good information that came out of it, but due to my failing ears and a malfunctioning microphone I unfortunately couldn't hear a large portion of the conversation. I'll add a couple more tidbits that I did hear and can remember...

Jay responded when asked if there was any new information on building the indoor infield/batting cage facility and replied that he has the design mapped out and planned but no funding or timeline is in place at this point. He would like to expand the current pitching lab side of the existing facility to add additional pitching lanes where the current batting cages are right now. He has said in the past that the indoor infield would be outfitted with a drop down netting system to serve a dual function for infield drills as well as updated batting cages.

Jay said that this season's team motto is: "All In On Now". Said that he wanted the team and returning holdover players to enjoy the national championship in the moment but turn the page and put in the work for the same result this upcoming season.

Players in attendance for Q&A session were: Tanner Reaves, Connor Benge, Eathan Plog, Dax Dathe and Santiago Garcia.

Pitchers were asked who was the toughest out of all the hitters Zach Yorke was mentioned by three pitchers and Monster was also named.

I asked Tanner who was the pitcher on this staff that he least liked to face and he said Plog. Mason Braun has admitted the same thing and says that when batters are able to pick up the ball after his release point, due to the arm angle it appears as though the ball will hit the batter until it reaches the strike zone.

Players were asked about the food here and what are the best dishes they have had. Pastalalya was mentioned by two players, Garcia said jambalaya and Reaves said gumbo. Benge said his girlfriend is from Louisiana and he makes sure that she cooks all their meals.

Players were asked why they decided on transferring to LSU instead of other schools. Ability of this coaching staff to prepare them for a professional baseball career, the resources that LSU offers to improve players mental game and playing in front of the fans inside Alex Box were all mentioned. Reaves mentioned that he was amazed that the stadium was full on his first visit for an early afternoon start on a weekday and the fans stuck around and credited the fans who stayed and pushed the team across the finish line for the 1:17 am game.

Myself and the OP took some time to look around the new below bleacher home bullpen. It has been updated since its first season and now has upgraded lighting, fans and seating for players. Also they have installed some sort of camera?? or technology device above the pitching lanes that I assume videos and/or tracks pitching metrics and data. Also signs have been hung inside of there to reinforce and remind pitchers of the tenets and goals of what they are trying to accomplish each pitch/at bat/appearance.

I asked a coaching staff member about the "catapult" undergarments that all players are wearing now because last year it was just a select few who wore them. I thought due to the name brand "catapult " that it was some sort of power hitting advantage gained in the upper body/chest area from the sports bra looking garments. The staff member said that it was something brought into the program by Chris Martin and expanded on this season. Apparently the garments have internal technology devices that that measure health and training related data such as heartbeat, distances and speeds travelled etc. Said that Martin and this training staff are on the forefront of using technology to benefit the program and players.
