Playing VT once, why not all 3 games?

We play VT on the weekend just as much as we play Grambling on the weekend.

I believe the Yale series may have been the doing of a very high ranking TAF donor who has a relative on the Yale baseball team right now.

One game vs VT is not a series.

I'm sure you'll survive. I can't explain Grambling and Texas Southern, but keep in mind that a lot of northern teams need to schedule games in the south so they can actually get to play baseball for the first month of the season. The scheduling evens out some of the advantage southern teams have. Manieri knows this having coached at ND. It's for the good of the sport, giving it more national appeal.

I work at Holy Cross. They were thrilled to be in Baton Rouge a few years ago.

We tried to get UCLA for the opening weekend series, but they haven't started using the bats yet.

Still working on HBP that time of year.

Playing Louisiana schools at all on a weekend is a fricking joke. Playing an Ivy league school for their first series every year is a joke. And playing any SWAC schools not named Southern is a joke. We shouldn't be doing any of those things, but we seem to want to do them every year.

I'm just bummed LSU didn't take Rice's offer to make the Wally Pontiff Classic a yearly rivalry. Still not sure on the reasoning there.

I would have liked to see LSU schedule Rice and Houston yearly with alternating trips to each, so they make a trip to Houston each year.

I don't see why we can't do a Tulane series each year, especially with their new (all turf ) field.

We do. We play them once at home and once at their place. It's a mid week, non-consecutive series.

One that I think we should also do with ULL each year.

I meant a series. It's tough to drum up a rivalry or excitement over midweek games.

But there is no reason to waste a weekend on a team within driving distance. Weekends should be for teams that have to fly here. Intersectional matchups with good teams.

I would support a Tulane/LSU yearly series. Mostly because a guy in my office is a huge Tulane baseball fan.
