re: Better to lose to Southern or Tulane?

I never want to lose to Tulane and there was absolutely no excuse for our hitters to be dominated by the pitching they faced last night. Have you seen what Tulane's bullpen has been doing lately. If we can't hit against them, we are in real trouble.

LSU should never lose to Southern. That was a terrible lose.

Our midweek starters should have more talent than mid week games aces. Also, our offense should be able to bludgeon mid week pitching, regardless if our midweek pitching is on
I don’t understand the people that downvote this.
Are you saying we aren’t more talented, or are you like our coach and you don’t give a shite when you lose?
I don’t get it.

Eh not as bad as going to a plastic suckhole stadium to play in front of the same fans who'll be at Zypher next week anyways. When Tulane makes it back to the CWS, I think we should look into playing them in the Dome or at Zypher. But certainly not at their stadium.
Better to go to Southern and lose there than travel and get stiffed by tightwads using us as a revenue lifeline for their decrepit athletic department.

You don't have to. In one of the Bregman years the team went undefeated in the midweek.
And how did that team finish?

You must not be paying attention. These "midweek" teams (especially Tulane and ULL) are not going to be, and have not been throwing their "aces" at us. We have a legit brain block when it comes to these teams. I have never understood how this continues to happen, but I am over giving a shite.
Big Chicken last night had a damn 7+ ERA, and certainly was not their ace. Payne from McNeese that shut us out was not their ace. In fact, he threw three times the amount of innings that he had thrown in a game all year against us. Same for the kid from Nicholls. These other teams, that we are getting skull fricked, by have one shot at making post season, which is to win their conference. They will be throwing their aces on weekends, and not against the "mighty" LSU Tigers.
Just enjoy winning our SEC games and accept that we will continue to play like dog shite in the mid week, because our guys think they are too good to go play at Southern, and don't get up for the game.
Also, Tulane has a strong baseball program that got derailed by Katrina, so I certainly wouldn't criticize them. I wouldn't classify them as a sleeping giant, but they are a formidable in state opponent, that we will likely lose to a lot in the future.
The reality is that we are awful in this lineup 6-9, and if the first five don't all hit then we are screwed. We will be up and down this year, and win big games due to the talent at the top of our hitting, and our weekend rotation. But please don't be shocked when we have games where we look like we forgot how to play baseball, because i'm convinced that half of lineup doesn't know how.
Hal, Brandt, and Mathis GTFO please!

we ain’t losing any midweek games to Tulane this year.

Tulane.
I remember back in the bad ol' days when LSU football lost to Tulane FOUR times! Each of those was a utter humiliation, and after the 1973 game I was sick for weeks.
Also the loss in the baseball superregional in 2001 was hard to bear. I hate losing to Tulane worse than any other team, cept maybe Auburn.

You know what you are talking about. They think they are so special that the gene pool started flattening out. It’s like what happens in a royal family.

This might be the dumbest statement I’ve ever read on this board, and that’s saying a lot.

Who cares neither team is going anywhere...both teams are staying home come post season
Posted on 4/10/19 at 8:35 pm to BattinRouge11
And to think , we lost to that and played in front of that....all time low right

Doesn't really matter to me at all...both are practice squad-caliber teams and should be regarded as such.

What are you talking about? It is simply always best to lose. Period.

I was there...73, 79, 81 & 82. Was also in Zephyr in 2001...
Totally miserable...
That 73 game had me sick for a f’n year...
