I used to think that until a guy I work with turned 3 minute duck hunting videos into a full-time career. He’s a part time consultant for my company now but this dude is always working. Always filming. Always editing. Always doing something a sponsor is requiring him to do.

Why does it bother you so much?
The same reason why homeless people, people on food stamps, and government housing bother me so much.
The question is why doesn't it bother you. In the 90's you would look down upon someone who was unemployed and would video themselves eating at McDonalds or a gas station or walking around videoing themselves doing everyday activities. Now you look at them like some celebrity. It's creepy and just strange and everything that is wrong with today's society. Social media is a hell of a drug

What you just listed and these British guys aren’t remotely the same thing.

Normally I’d agree…but I’ll take a British “influencer” hyping up America and the Tigers in today’s climate. Any little thing that moves the needle in a positive direction for Louisiana and LSU is a good thing.

As much as I hate it, creating videos to post on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram is an actual line of work now. They are essentially actors but completely cut out the film industry and create their own entertainment content. The top performers/creators are paid handsomely, just like in Hollywood.
Like k said, I don’t like the fact that “Influencer” is a job, but hating it does not make it not exist.

That dude is fake and annoying as f. Shreveport wants to murder that dude because they went to a meth hotel in Shreveport and made it look like Shreveport was only that. F that grifting ****.

Why would it bother me? People have been finding new ways to make money since the beginning of time.
TD is such a weird place. A bunch of older men posting anonymously on a message board angry that younger people are exploiting a similar platform for money.

Hot take here. If the platform to make them famous didn’t exist, they wouldn’t be famous.
Joe Burrow wouldn’t be famous without the platform of football. What’s your point? Only jobs that you respect are really jobs?

Is being videoed by other people a job? News anchors don’t have jobs? Actors and actresses don’t have jobs? Private process servers use their phones to document their serving people. They don’t have jobs?
Your favorite onlyfans model makes great money filming himself. Does he not have a job?

Good for him and good for the LSU brand. The problem I have is with the NOLA.com article description of the jersey.
"The jersey was yellow..." really?!? We don't call it yellow and the color is appropriately referred to as Gold or LSU Gold.

Why should it? They are basically the travel channel except on Youtube.

Are your tax dollars going to these guys? No. It’s not the same. Which brings me back to above. I don’t bother myself with what other law abiding people do. Go enjoy your life. And if you make money at it, even better.
If they aren’t getting any of my money why should I care? You tried comparing to completely uncorrelated things.

TD is also a bunch of young, uneducated punks with no job who live at home, and post at 3 a.m. about whether it's better for lineman to use a two-point or three-point stance.

HOTTER TAKE: If sports and TV didn't exist, athletes and reporters wouldn't be famous either.

You clearly don't understand the business model.
The business model probably wasn't difficult for you to understand when Tide laundry detergent ran a 30 second commercial on CBS and the Neilson Ratings showed that the commercial reached 650,000 active television sets. With that visibility, Tide gladly paid $10,000 to the network for one or two plays of their commercial.
In social media, each "follower" is a screen that the video is streamed to, like a pre-arranged TV viewer. Each follower gets to see the short videos they produce. They have 632,000 followers on Facebook, 1.5 million on TikTok and more than 2.3 million on Instagram. That is a huge number of guaranteed viewers. A product placement on their videos is seen by more screens than if the same commercial was on NBC.
Their job is that they run a media advertising business. Just like Livvy Dunne. They obviously do it very well.

Whether you like it or not, it is free enterprise. Are you against that?

This is more great advertising for LSU.
A few jealous fans aren't going to ruin this new fan's good time.
Good for LSU and good for these guys across the pond.
