What do you know about hiring a coach to say he’s the best candidate?

Regardless of who is hired, the rant will be just beside itself and demand his contract be immediately bought out.

Bc I think Tennessee will match or beat any offer that Vitello gets on the open market. And, I'm not really sure he wants to leave the situation that he's in - program on the rise with fans and players that have bought in, and much less pressure than the LSU job has (right now).

I have no sources.
I have no close friendships in LSU athletics.
I do know some folks on BOS and we talk.
I have heard discussion of one or more coaches from HBCU.
A choice from those schools would surprise.
I would, however, enjoy watching the reaction on these boards.

I get the same feeling. He can be THE guy at Tennessee.

I agree I think it’s Corbin or Vitello…Corbin would be an absolute shocker.

I think Vitello can clearly see what he can get at LSU and what he can’t at Tennessee……he sees his energy and coaching is what is clearly missing here.

IMO...

1. SW will make Tim Corbin a firm offer soon after Vandy loses out of the CWS. If Corbin says no, then

2. SW will go down his list of coaches like O'Connor, Vitello, Godwin, etc in whatever order he has them.

I think we might be surprised that some attractive HC candidates might NOT want to coach at LSU where so many fans/supporters think anything less than Omaha every year is a failure.
