I'm pretty sure the O thing was a Ponamski thing that's why he hired him when he became head coach. Also I have no doubt the morning show had an influence on O getting the d line job but The head coaching job was because of the way O handled everything since he started at LSU.

Certainly could be a PR play from Davis. Otherwise, why would the coach from MTSU, on the even of the NCAAT, be doing a radio interview on a Baton Rouge station at a time when it just so happens that the big school in town is looking for a new HC?
Culotta has a good relationship with John Brady going back several years, so in most circumstances you would think this his just Brady helping out a friend by getting him an interview with the coach of a team expected to be a Cinderella. However, when you realize that Ogeron basically used that show, AND HIRED ONE OF THE HOSTS, as his PR firm to help get the LSU job, it's not far fetched to think Davis could be doing the same thing.
I don't blame Davis at all. LSU's bozo athletic director has proven he can be influenced into making otherwise illogical hires. Joe Alleva is on a two man streak of hiring guys with no other power conf. HC options. Davis has done a good job at MTSU, but he's been there for 15 years for a reason. I don't think any other power conf. program is considering him (NC St., Illinois, Mizzou) so he fits Alleva's target coach!

Just to clarify, do y'all really think the morning radio show has an influence on who LSU hires in any sport?
The radio hosts 100% were used to gain a ground swell of support for a career 10-25 head coach to look like a legit candidate for a top 10 college football job. They pushed every narrative from "but look at the coordinators he will bring in" (that Lane Kiffin silliness failed anyway) to "look how much the alumni love him". When a morning radio host exclaims after one game "if you aren't on the Coach O train then F off!", you have a serious lack of credibility.

It's too bad Culotta isn't a fan of Alabama so he could ruin their athletic dept instead of ours.
LSU's athletic department is ruined?
Culotta did that?
Here Marsha, have a Snickers.

Tell me how well he handled the Florida week.
The narrative went from Coach O needing to win out to get the job, to well, beat everyone but Bama, to he wants to be here.
Give me a f'ing break.

you seemed pretty neutral on the matter but it was pretty obvious jordy wanted coach o to get the job.

The Monday following the Missouri game the "Coach O will bring in Lane Kiffin as OC" mantra started. Lane Kiffin was sold as the guy all the way until he left Coach O at the alter.

Im luke warm on canada, thats the only one he has hired. I think orgeron will be fine until aranda leaves, then he has to make a great hire there, or it goes down hill

I don't have any reason to not like him. Me telling Ell they were both "good" wasn't a knock in any way. Just a figure of speech.

-If he wins out, he gets the job
-Ok look no one can beat Bama, if we just compete he should get it
-Alright so bama shut us out and our offense never once posed a threat to them....as long as he doesn't lose another game he's good
- 5-2 is a damn good record considering what he had to deal with, I mean we should have beat UF
They also built the narrative that if it couldn't be Jimbo or Herman, O was the only legitimate candidate.
No they didn't get O the job as Culotta likes to mockingly say but he was definitely a strong PR machine for O's political campaign.

KD might come in here and do well, but Alleva should set his sights on a younger coach.

I know you're pissed about not getting Jimbo, but who else after Herman & O that was possibly attainable should we have seriously looked at? Stoops maybe?
