That was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this thread (as is always the case when I think of Borne). Most iconic PA announcer moment of my life, anywhere, ever.

Dan Borne' is a irreplaceable legend. He IS the voice of the Tigers. I feel like a part of my childhood is dying.
He will definitely be missed.

Agree. I think he's probably already got enough on his plate, but i can't really speak for him. He's definitely LSU through and through, though. I think they'd probably find someone new to take the gig full time, but I think franques is almost by default the fill in man for any lsu announcing, and that alone is pretty cool.

I'm sure that Borné is probably a good guy, but I've always HATED his voice and the job that he does.
That "SCOOOOOORES" thing is stupid. It's just corny awkward cheerleader nonsense. A PA guy is supposed to convey information... not act like he's in league with the guy in the tiger suit.
When he started doing that during the Shaq days, I actually mailed a physical snail-mail letter to Joe Dean, begging him to fire that idiot before he gave me a brain aneurysm.
Needless to say, my letter fell on deaf ears.
That "SCOOOOOORES" thing is stupid. It's just corny awkward cheerleader nonsense. A PA guy is supposed to convey information... not act like he's in league with the guy in the tiger suit.

To me, similar in how he said "peenalized" or other words, it was a way to ensure his announcing was understood clearly and stood out from the crowd noise. The NWS has a guide for speaking during a weather alert, and while his style wasn't anywhere quite so severe, but it seemed he did tweak some words or expressions.
Regardless, Dan Borne will live in LSU history forever, having been a part of so many events and having done his job so well. He is also a great person, well liked by those who have known him.
