It's not crazy when you have guys who make zero money get told they will make close to a million dollars to start their careers early. There isn't much difference between a 3rd round and a 5th round draft pick. The difference is in your second contract if you are good enough to get one and that clock starts one year early if he leaves this year. With that said I will be ecstatic if he comes back and trys to play himself into a first or second round pick.
This is all correct. Since the change in the rookie salary rules, draft position outside the top 10 means little. The only questionable decisions are by those who come out with a chance to go undrafted. If you are a lock to go fourth round or better, it's generally a good decision to start the clock to contract 2 earlier. This is ESPECIALLY true for running backs, who have an increasingly short lifespan in the league.

that means more than likely a 3rd-5th rounder, i'm sure he'll have great measurables but he won't have nearly the production of other receivers in the draft

Definitely, but most don't know much about him. With a new offensive coordinator, he will put up big numbers and will get drafted way higher than he would this year. Dude is lightning and has great hands.

Personally, I think he's NFL caliber, but Ottawa not bad this time of year.

I mean he had 24 catches and 3 TDs this year. Of course he's a decent player right now but I don't think that's good enough numbers.
He would greatly benefit from another year. You don't see WRs with those stats going in the first 2 days of the draft.

So will Malachi get drafted?

They'll both get drafted, but they could increase their stock immensely by coming back next year.

He's don't nothing to be able to say he's ready. Sorry. That's not a good move.

I agree, as well. They would both benefit from another year in a better offensive system.
One issue with leaving early to start the 2nd contract clock early is that, if you aren't ready for the NFL, every game brings you closer to being out of the league. Marginal players don't get 2nd contracts. They get replaced by other guys on cheap rookie deals. Being prepared to make the jump is essential.

He will feast next season in the new offense. He will be featured more next season than he was this year. I see him being used like Canada used Quadree this season. Jet sweeps!
Quadree had 60 carries this year compared to the 12 carries DJ had. Quadree had 86 total touches on offense for 967 yds and 6 TDs. DJ had 563 yds and 5 TDs with only 36 touches.

Draft wire has him a second round pic
Draft Wire has a WR that has 24 career catches for a little over 400 yards and 3 TDs projected as a second round pick?
You guys are hilarious. Have you even looked around the country at the top WRs?
Chark would likely be a 6th or 7th round pick or even undrafted.
He may be a hidden gem for the NFL that can be developed if he leaves this early, but anything before the fifth round is laughable at best.

Stop being blinded by the new shiny toy. Dupre is the best WR on the team at the moment. His total stat line his first 2 years were better than any LSU WR since Clayton, and he had crap for QB play. He had a really poor year this year, but he's still the best WR on the team when you take everything into account.

Chark received a higher grade than Dupre. Think one of them goes.

If Chark doesn't want to stay and jet sweep it next year, I think Jackson should move from CB and take the job
