Not trying to be a debbie downer for Zach, but throwing away some of the best years of your life away for $1.5M isn't necessarily the best path forward. I can't imagine too many things that would be cooler as a 18-23 year old than to be BMOC as an LSU quarterback. That would be an experience that money can't buy.

Actually being 18 years old and knowing no matter what you'll never have to worry about money would be pretty great. 2 million dollars is alot of money and more than most make in their working careers.

so the player has to make a quick decision

correct. It takes away the ability for the player to sit on the offer and put pressure on the team to up it.

I have been prepared all along that he would sign! Sorry guys...money talks and bullshite walks

Me too. One day our fans are going to learn that first round draft picks are generally expected to sign.

How the hell are they supposed to read and analyze all the fine print in such a short amount of time? Would seem to me that would make the Lee's skeptical of what is hidden in that contract.

Just stop man. I know you have to be a huge LSU fan, but this is stupid logic.

Isn't this weird that the first offer is at the very last minute? Honestly I don't follow these negotiations much but why make the first offer at the very end?

That's actually the way MLB prefers it. When paying picks over slot MLB wants teams to wait till the last minute before signing and announcing it so that other players picked before or right after that player don't ask for the same money.

It's a dumb system and needs to be shelved and improved. It costs players half a year of minor league experience and keeps college coaches in limbo.

a lot of time the contract is already written out, they are just going back and forth on the signing bonus.

Well, I was just taking Lee's word that they haven't been in contact with the Dodgers.

May not, but his agent certainly knows the "fine print" by now. Pretty sure it will be somewhat vanilla.

As I understand it, ZL will be making the decision with his family. He hasn't hired an agent for fear it would affect his FB eligibility.

Lee isn't going to sign a multi million dollar deal without some consultation.
