Good for him, awful situation for LSU.

What makes it even worse is that if Jefferson plays solid this year, Jarret Lee sees the writing on the wall that he won't be more than a backup next year and he transfers out. We're stuck with a true freshman backup QB. Really bad situation....potentially.

Actually being 18 years old and knowing no matter what you'll never have to worry about money would be pretty great. 2 million dollars is alot of money and more than most make in their working careers.

See that's where you're wrong.

The third QB is generally overrated. If you get down to your third QB for one reason or another, your season is likely screwed regardless. Who will we start in 2012 should be a much bigger concern.

Not really. One QB goes down, LSU will definitely change the way the offense is run to protect the only QB on scholarship. Also, if Rivers backs off there is absolutely no buffer anymore for next year.

Players directly above and below Lee got a 1.16M Signing bonus, that is the bonus.

Now, who is reporting an offer of 3?

This is my two cents, but I think he is going to be a Dodge. Why? He has played this too cool, what I mean is that his agent/advisor has coached him to not say 1 think about this. On Matt Mascona\'s show the other day Matt M said ZL was had a stone wall face when asked anything about the situation. Him going to school and practicing with the team is nothing but negotiating leverage.

He may end up signing, but that's horrible reasoning.

If the number is $3MM, you take it...period. That's a nice chunk of change to still have ALL these options on the table when it is said and done.
Don't get me wrong. I totally agree that you take that kind of offer. I just don't think getting 3MM at age 18 sets you for life...BUT it's a damn good start!!!

If Rivers backs off, and ZL is gone, Ely will be in here faster than you can say your name. Either he will or another would be, someone like Bridgewater.

Basically being GIVEN the starting job at LSU is huge draw.

So is there any "REAL NEWS" or is all this typical ranter speculation?

I haven't seen much of any real news. Just sounds like someone read a tweet from some other agent who is speculating that there is a $3million offer for Z. Lee.

You are going to change your offense for the second QB regardless. Even most good teams only have two QBs taking almost all the practice reps. Many NFL teams only carry two, and that is a longer season where you have a larger margin of error for injuries and mistakes.

Can you name number 3 QBs that even did an adequate job of leading their teams off of two injured QBs? I can't. I can't even remember it happening (top two QBs down to significant injury) except for that bad luck Arkansas team a handful of years back.

Why is it so difficult to recruit an elite QB? You would think that the top prospects in the country would want to quarterback our offense. Are we that much of an ugly option?

I think thats the official play name for when we run the option to the short side of the field!

I am not sure if it is a horrible option, but Crowton/Miles aren't two of the guys that I would be beating down the door to qb for if I was an elite talent.

prediction time. In first round, I'll take Barret Loux (#tamu) and Zach Lee (#lsu) as the two that don't sign tomorrow night. #mlbdraft
