repeat of a previous post of mine...

The key to Brennan starting or getting significant more snaps lies in the Defense.

Freshmen do freshmen things. Stare down recievers, panic and make bad decisions, and screw up mesh points & ball handling. All of those readily lead to turnovers, not just production.

If our D was playing better, much better, the coaches would feel more confident in absorbing those mistakes without risking a game. With last year's D, Brennan would likely be starting the AU game (SEC home opener).

he keeps doing what works until they stop it. he keeps using whole field with the run game to keep them honest all game. yes pass game has major problems execution wise. he has to call games based on what DE can do and as we see it is not much. we tried a screen and they sniffed it out. etling missed on a bunch of passes. bad reads.

This is exactly right. I still think he could have done a better job for the Troy game. I'll give him a pass for the State game because we had way too many flags for a real game to be played out. I think we have some decent coaches, they are just going to have to build off of the success they have and learn from their mistakes. That's basically it. We beat a decent team on the road in the SEC. That's not a bad start. Let's take it from here and build from this positive momentum. That's really all they can do. At least it's a win and they can build from it.

Now let's see if more improvements can be made. I'll tell you what I'm impressed with our second team OL. They look stout. With some improvements in JUCO recruiting, and our young guys maturing, along with Myles having an entire year with Canada, this team can be pretty good next year.

I would be recruiting Guice, and Key to come back as well. If they don't improve on this season I can't see how they won't help their draft status tremendously with another year. We need better WRs too. These guys are lazy and have zero fight in them. Chark needs to set the tone better than he has. When your QB is struggling to find someone open, that's when you just run around the field to get open. That should actually be a part of our offense since it happens very often and Etling is pretty good at escaping pressure.

Their needs to be a much better coached scramble drill from our coaches.

Some of Etling’s runs helped the defense by keeping drives alive....may not have scored but at least gave the defense more time to rest...

How bad we've looked on offense cannot be solely placed on Canada's shoulders

halfway in the season, i agree. canada is making lemonade out of lemons. can't understand why the players are not making plays. it's something different on every play; wr doesn't get open, wr drop, o line struggling, etling regressing rapidly

routes are very predictable and still don't see anything that's taking pressure off the pass rush
canada can't make the receivers do what they know to do - actually try to play football, like getting open and catching the ball. i'm not sure what's going on but this group of very talented receivers stinks. once the jet sweeps got sniffed out, the tigers had basically no offense at all.

that's exactly how i feel. the bad news - florida is not a great team and has problems on and off the field. the good news, the tigers looked slightly, slightly improved.

Canada's offense is gimmicky and I prefer what Ensminger put in last year. I don't think he was a great hire. So glad we won, and I am NOT surprised we played well. Been saying we would all week.

It's hard to really judge, though, when your head coach admits that he was meddling in the offense and would step back after a loss like the one to Troy.

The offense didn't look great by any measure, but the shifts keep the defense from being able to send tons of pressure without having to make reads outside of what they've likely seen a hundred times in film. When there's that much motion, all it takes is one lapse in judgement or missed read by a defender to turn a simple sweep into a wide open 30 yard touchdown. "Simplifying" that to fix penalty problems that O's teams always have is literally taking away any threat your offense may have had to cover up the fact that discipline is lacking.

I'd love to see Aranda and Canada coach under Miles, if he'd let them do their jobs. Hell, I'd love to see the outcome of any solid coach that doesn't have a long-running issue with penalties and discipline with these coordinators. I just can't judge Canada's offense when it's clear that he'll always have to try to cover up for youth and discipline issues that come with Orgeron teams.

With the athletes LSU has, Canada could have offenses that put up major numbers, but without discipline (or better line play), we'll never have a chance to find out. Aranda looks human a lot under O, and he's been a boss everywhere he's been. That makes it tough to really assess Canada's offense without wondering how much outside influence is hurting it.

Hard for me to believe a guy as touted as Canada doesn't have more input on WR and screen pass/draw play execution - he is the OC, right? Are you gonna tell me O is hindering that process too? I call bullshite on that. The offense iOS gimmicky and will go nowhere - not because of DE's shortcomings, but because of the continual lack of any real short and intermediate passing game. The running game actually showed some signs of life in spite of the OL inexperience and limits on the passing game.

Oh boy..

Another uneducated troll. You probably watch as much game film as the players did leading up to Troy cause you have no idea what is going on on the offensive side of the football

Agreed. With more reps and experience this OFF will get better. I'm betting we see the TE involved more next week, along with some other new wrinkles from Canada to help us BEAT AUB!

Canada's game plan at the beginning of the game is the main reason we won IMO.
