I never understood why that defense was so bad that year. It was good the year before in 12 and was good in 14. The talent was there. Maybe Chavis was starting to slip.

Mett's going to be the head football coach at Father Ryan High School this year in Nashville.....

Wow that was hilarious. Thank you for sharing

I saw him there while I was a student too. He was taller than everyone else at the bar, so it made it more obvious it was him. DJ put on what I later found out was Mariah Carey’s ‘all I want for Christmas’ and all the women in the bar went nuts. He was walking by when the music started and looked at me and said “what the frick is this?”
Just shrugged my shoulders and was like “I don’t fricking know man, but I hope they change it fast.” He just kind of laughed and kept walking
I know, csb

Maybe Chavis was starting to slip.
IIRC Chavis prior season D was 2012 top 10, and his final season at LSU was FBS #6 2014 Scoring D.

Young and thin at CB and DT and DJ Welter.

Brandon Harris has both himself and Les Miles/Offensive Staff to blame for his struggles. Regardless, he loathes LSU.
Harris must really hate that UNC staff from his next stop then. 1TD/8INT in 6 games
Miles should've opened 2016 with Etling QB#1.

I'm about 90% sure this was the same night

Mett got super pissed when my girlfriend turned down his advances at Schlitz downtown and tried to fight me
Logan Stokes was the voice of reason that evening

quote:I blame that on Miles. Harris had a ton of talent. Dude went to the wrong school. He would have been crazy at somewhere like Clemson, Oklahoma, Oregon or Ohio St.
Highly rated player who turned out to be an absolute dud. He was supposed to be the answer after Jennings failed. The end of the Miles era had begun in earnest with Harris.

2023 was atrocious. For our opponents, it was like playing against air. Our best defense was Jayden taking more than a few minutes off the clock before we scored.

quote:Insane exaggeration. That defense was average AT WORST. We finished 21st in the country giving up 22 points per game.

Some games you have to outlast your opponent. Like UGA.
I can't put the Bama game entirely on the defense either. The offense should have been up 14-3 early in that game and kept screwing themselves over even after getting short fields.
During the Ole Miss game Mett threw 3 ints back to back to back. We should have beaten them by multiple TDs, but lost by 3.

Horrible player. The game was too fast for him. He couldn't properly pre read defenses. Overrated and it showed at North Carolina as well.

Yes, his coaches were bad. But Harris’ accuracy was literally the worst I’ve seen from someone rated so high. He had no idea where the ball was going.

Mett was an ice wagon and sucked

That's what we're (We Are) referring to with the "Square Peg-Round Hole" Les Miles system of QB recruiting........

Seeing him go under center as a true freshman was one of the most awkward looking things I've seen in sports. I've never seen a player look more uncomfortable.
