that should tell you all you need to know about stud
I'm confused, because La'El recently received a third round grade at LT

What about former LaTech HC Jack Bicknell?
Posted on 1/8/14 at 2:07 pm to BilJ
who did Stud replace, Searels? I forget.

Because he struggled in pass pro, like all of our OL. Do you think he would have received a first round grade at LG?

Collins was a beast at guard last season fwiw

I'd like to see what Jerald Hawkins graded out as. That guy is as athletic as anyone and should be a pass blockig master.

Shea confirmed with Michael Bonnette that Stud is out FWIW

Stud felt he was the best LG in the country in 2012.

He was a beast at run blocking last year at LG and this year at LT. He was too inconsistent at pass pro both years to be a first rounder, no matter the position. That falls on Stud.

well, in 2012, LSU lost 2 OL to season ending injuries (one of whom was the best OL and I thought best offensive player period), and Hurst quit. I thought the reshuffled line did well starting with the SC game. maybe not on the level of what Mizzou dealt with, but having to remake that much of your line well into the season is tough.
like I posted a while back, I don't think Stud was necessarily a bad OL coach (nor an OC even), but it was time for a change. LSU could and should do better.

well 1) that's because he wasn't developed properly. He has the talent of a top ten pick at tackle
and 2) guards RARELY get picked in the top ten. teams find it to be an unimportant position, and stud should know that

Gotta imagine that image of Mett laying on the ground against Bama didn't help Stud out when it came to this decision

Stud wanted him at guard. Felt he would have been a top-10 pick easily.
because Offensive guards are in such high demand that NFL teams routinely take them in the 1st round? In the last ten NFL drafts, only 8 OGs have been drafted in the first round

Tigers are rejoicing everywhere!

FTR I doubt Stud was called in and fired this morning. He probably knew he was out for a while. I think LSU waited for the end of the NFL season to reach out to some people and Miles has probably made his choice. I bet word has gotten out to the media that Stud is gone and now LSU will have to officially address it. The AFCA Convention is next week so if Stud hasnt already lined up a job he will no doubt be actively looking for one next week.
