Chester was the reason the interior running game was so bad last year.

They need to put in Curne and just let him learn on the fly.

This is my biggest concern going into the season. What is our run game going to look like? Needs to be efficient and dynamic. OL has GOT to play as a unit.

I’d rather have a line full of decent linemen that play well as a unit, than 1 or 2 star linemen but the line as a whole can’t work together.

Every OL takes time to gel. Let’s just hope they do.

Yes guard play. Very important. If we don't get push from the guards in the run game, we don't really have much of a run game.

Yes .. curne.
Even if he needs to learn, we need push. We need push from the guards. We didn't get that last year. They got their shite pushed in. And he is strong as an ox

we went through this in reverse 2 years ago and everyone said it will be fine when the season starts, the defense will come around. they didn’t

Everyone who knew anything about LSU football knew the defense would struggle for the last two years. What in the revisionist history is this?

So... new personnel is going to make us... worse?

oh yeah and we’re playing a very good defensive front week 1

The defensive front that was ranked 85 in rushing defense and T-37 in sacks? The same one that was on the 69th ranked defense? The same one with the new defensive coordinator?

This may shock you... but I'm not really that worried about Clemson's supposed elite defense until they show they're at least better than LSU's supposedly middling one (they weren't in 2024).

I think the general consensus at the moment is that center will be improved, there will be a slight drop off in tackle play, and guard play is looking similar to last year. What that means? I have no clue. I personally think it will be a struggle game 1 considering the environment and the opponent. I hope that they will improve throughout the year.

If he plays, you know the status of our OL

The less you hear about the OL the better they most likely are.

That’s not true at all. A ton of people 100% wrote off the fall camp struggles of the defense going into the 2023 season. Many thought that Matt House was the long term solution.

I mean you are talking about replacing a top 5 overall pick and a 3rd round pick. So yeah, I’d say it’s possible their replacements could be worse.

Are you acting like them taking Penn State’s defensive coordinator is going to make them worse?

Actually that’s bullshite, he’s had a better camp than Thompson. And nobody has been able to stop Gooden.

This is bullshite too. He’s stated Adams LT, Moore C, Davis RT have solidified starting positions.

They said Echols got the first team reps over Chester and mbuenga some yesterday.

Echols looked really good in the bowl game for a true freshman with few in-season reps. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he and Curne push ahead of Chester and Mubenga.

Last year even with 4 NFL draft picks they couldnt push upfield 2yards when in the red zone to get a TD or a crucial 1st down.
Davis can recruit but really doesn’t seem like he can coach them up to perform. Hopefully Atkins/BK will help to get the OL synced up. It will make or break this team this year

the defense had been better in 22 than it was in 21 so there were thoughts that the defense would be maybe not elite but a decent SEC defense and them getting run over in camp was no big deal/they will figure it out.

more a question of coaching

From what I gather, the media only gets to see about ten plays per practice; that is what they report on. Do you really think that our first O is only running 10 plays per practice. Why do so many people on here feel as though they know everything going on in practice? You do not. We saw Adams, Mubenga, Bordelon, Chester, and Green play with very limited experience in the bowl game against a decent Baylor team. They played fairly well as I recall.

A ton of people on this board may have said that. But this board is not an accurate reflection of either reality or public sentiment.

Fair enough. The premise I was responding to was that the run blocking last year wasn't good (it wasn't) AND that we lost good personnel. If you're concerned about the inability to run block by personnel last year, you can't logically carry that concern into a new personnel grouping.

No. Are you acting like any college football coordinator can install a new defensive scheme in one off-season?

The defense looks even better going against a brand new OL.
