Apples and oranges.

1. Look at the schedule and see who had tougher schedules and who beat ranked teams.

Hodson beat

1987 Season
No. 15 Texas A&M (W 17-3)
No. 19 Florida (W 13-10)
No. 16 Georgia (W 26-23)
No. 8 South Carolina (W 30-13 in the Gator Bowl)

1988 Season
No. 10 Texas A&M (W 27-0)
No. 4 Auburn (W 7-6, the "Earthquake Game")
No. 18 Alabama (W 19-18)

Nussmeier beat

No. 9 Ole Miss in 2024 (overtime win).
No. 4 Clemson in 2025 (season opener).
Unranked South Carolina in 2024 who ended season ranked 19

2. YA Tittle only threw for 2,525 yards and 23 TDs at LSU. Did he suck?

Hodson was a much better QB

Nuss has to learn to work hard and develop into a athlete both mentally and physically. He's just a kid with a good arm that makes bad decisions, that his physical attributes can't get him out of. He can get better at all of the above if he'll commit to it and become a professional.

When did Wendell Davis "check out" on us? He was the MVP in his last game as a Tiger.

Did you watch the Senior Bowl?
You have to be as mobile as J Daniels, or have an offensive line, for mobility to work.
The Sr Bowl linemen were competent, playing for their careers, so they gave it all. I don't remember Nuss being sacked in the SB. He showed that he has enough mobility to avoid the rush, to extend plays, and enough quickness to score a TD.

A very rudimentary play that doesn’t prove anything. He will be one of the smallest QBs in the league. That won’t be in his bag

There was no blitzing in SB. That is how you rattle and beat Nussmeier.

I will add you can get him to burn to’s by showing blitz.

Hodson only had 100 more passing attempts.

That’s essentially 2-3 sec games for nuss

I’ll say this, if Nussmeier is healthy and plays to the level he played the year before, they win 2-3 more games and we would be stuck with that useless excuse of a coach BK. So, it all worked out for the program, just not for Nussmeier. I hope he goes on to great things in the NFL.

It proves he's not a "statue" as some are wont to assert.

He is a statue relative to most modern NFL QBs. And he’s tiny. So not a great combo

He is Jarrett Lee psychologically with a much better arm.

People just dont want to admit that Nuss can not handle high pressure situations.

He does not and from what I read, did not spend anywhere near as much time as his predecessor did perfecting his mental game especially on the VR.

He is over confident because he is a coaches son and on multiple occasions in 2024, blatantly ignored BK trying to coach him.

Downvote away, but being injured doesnt fully explain his lack of performance.

There were bad throws and there were bad decisions.

In his defense he had no help with the non-existent running game. But he was prone to dumb mistakes/interceptions. I figured a late pick for sure but he improved his stock at the Senior Bowl, guessing he could go as an early 2nd rounder, maybe earlier. Will be fun to watch, everyone loves a redemption story.

Nuss is a great QB and if given a chance, a proper team and the right opportunity will do well in the NFL.

Quick processing (or lack thereof) and limited mobility are his big issues. NFL defensive coordinators are going to eat him alive with speed rushes off the edge and last second coverage changes.

It's possible he could have some success if he gets put in a situation like Jalen Hurts with elite OL, skill players, and defense. But if he goes to a bad team, he's going to get destroyed and the injuries are going to pile up.

Well, he’s listed at 6'-1". Guess we'll see where he falls in the NFL QB height/speed distribution.

Pavia is tiny. Nuss, probably a little below avg.

As for mobility, my guess is Nuss is well above any minimum threshold for mobility. Mett, Peyton, Brady, Eli - they were statues.

He was 202lbs, which is in the 4 percentile of measured QBs

You do realize in Hodson's era LSU did have an effective running game. It didn't boil down to one yard gained on 1st down, one yard gained on 2nd, then either a 20 yard completion or a sack on third.
