am perfectly fine with saying at the time Caldwell was a great hire.

I'm not. Her salary was effectively tripled to get her to come to Lsu when you factor in bonus structure and cost of living decrease. She had done nothing at that point to warrant that, except be a Summitt disciple. She never made it past the 2nd round of the tournament. And the year before, van chancellor took his worst Lsu team to Westwood and beat her UCLA team on their home court.

Beth should be paid the same or around the same as the top 5 coaches in the country.

'm on the same boat. She was extremely young and motivated. Turned UCLA around in terms of wins and losses extremely quick. She came from the Pat Summitt tree so it was a lot of positive and optimism.

I like Nikki and have followed her closely over her tenure here at LSU. I am not sure what it is but she lacks that fire now that she had when she stepped onto campus. She isn't horrible by any means outside that one year but ridiculously mediocre now. Our recruiting is beyond bad at this level

My question is why are people so content with mediocre products? Within her time here, Staley drove USCe past LSU quickly, as did a shitty MSU program. There are no excuses. A program can change quickly with the correct coach and if you want it badly.

Its obvious we don't want that, at least the admins don't care very much. I think I can speak for most LSU fans that we all want to be way better than mediocre in whatever we do

I'm with you on just about everything you said......................................except the part about mediocrity. If you're winning 20+ games per season, for 6 seasons, you ain't mediocre. And THAT..................quite frankly.................is the problem. I can't see our athletic administration firing a coach that wins 20+ games every season. At the same time, she was hired with the intention of getting the program back to where it once was. She's definitely failed at that. However, she's probably not "failed enough" for the AD to fire her. And then, who do you get after that...................................? If you want a championship level program you STILL have to get a great coach............whether its a young up and comer or a veteran. You ain't gonna be able to pay a coach to come in here for less than what they're paying coach Fargas..........................that is, if you want a coach to get you to the final four. And finally, why are folks on this board so upset about the salary? Who cares what she makes. It ain't our money. Her salary is paid by the football revenue. As far as I'm concerned they can pay the next coach $1 million. I don't care. I just want championships.

Wasn’t the case back in 2005-2006. I guess they were merely bandwagon fans.

I still remember the names of most of the starters back then. Couldn’t name a single player in the last 8-10 years

She won 10 games a year ago. In a sport that isn’t very competitive from top to bottom. She is very mediocre.

I would be 100% fine with her salary if we were making the final four.

Nothing’s free in life, my guy. Many people who donate to the university understand that the money we waste on her salary is part of the skyrocketing prices associated with LSU sports and the overall corporatization of LSU athletic events.

Ah, I see what you did there. You picked the ONE SEASON she's had a losing record, to represent the whole. Nice try buddy.

Oh stop it. The only reason some "care" is because they don't thin women's sports "deserve" to have that kind of money spent on it. Nobody said anything about wanting anything free. However, to use the excuse that we're "losing money" on the sport, then you don't understand the purpose for college sports. Here's a secret...................it ain't about making profits. That should be abundantly clear.

Only problem is, that's not a true statement.

? I accurately represented it in my OP and you just pulled “20+ wins per year EVERY YEAR” out of your arse so I corrected you. I don’t need to misrepresent her tenure, her mediocre numbers speak for themselves.

Again, you literally just said “it’s not our money so who cares?”. It’s not YOUR money being wasted apparently, but it is mine considering the fact that I have to make yearly TAF donations to pay her ridiculous salary.

Try and remember what you posted before you completely move the goalposts btw, genius

outrage over Nikki Caldwell?

LSU should throw the necessary money at Kim Mulkey to bring her back home to LA.

Imagine how many Final Fours and Championships she will bring us.

Please PLEAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEEE make it stop.

For the umpteenth billionith time, Mulkey makes more than a million dollars a year at Baylor. She ain't leaving. And if you think the "outrage" is epic over Fargas' salary, can you imagine what the reaction would be to paying a women's basketball coach over a million, no matter how many final four's she makes?

So, you're a "TAF Supporter" but the way you express your displeasure is coming on a message board and complaining...................? And I'm the "genius"?

First of all, no one believes you are a TAF member. If you're not attending women's basketball games, you're not "donating to TAF" to see a great women's basketball coach. Like most, it's to have access to football tickets and the program. Stop coming on here pretending like you care.

We should not spend over 300K for a WBB coach until the program breaks even

Women's sports is a check box

Sad but true

It is womens job to support it, yet they refuse for the most part

Women's sports is the epitome of the failures of equal treatment. You are not equal if you are being perpetually subsidized
