I’ll take Nuss with an improved run blocking over any qb in the country.

None. Nuss has the leadership and experience and talent to take us deep in the playoffs

The first time Nussmeier refuses to run for an easy first down and forces a throw that gets intercepted, this board will be all over him. It likely will come against Clemson, and folks in The Scoreboard will trash him. You know it's coming.

get new buddies
I'm not saying either will be a bust, but what body of work did you actually use to come to this conclusion. They both WILL go through the growing pains of starting week in and week out in the SEC, when teams get film to attack their weaknesses, or the weaknesses of the OC play calling.
I would take Nuss all day and twice on Sunday over these two. Out of the three that you threw out there, I would take Klubnik over arch and lagway.
It is unreal how otherwise intelligent people (i'm assuming) can have such knee jerk thought processes.

the cat has not shown anything to warrant this other than a good game against div 2 schools.
He might turn out great, but he has growing pains to go through. We have a cat already gone through those. Upside you say. If Nuss does what I think he will, he will be in the mix at the end for the Heisman and top 5 draft pick. Upside. LOL

Lagway
1915 yds, 12 TD, 9 INTs, 57.8 comp pct

Arch
939 yds, 9 TD, 2 INTs, 85.8 comp pct
Obviously neither of the guys got the minutes Nuss did, but do you care to expand on why, objectively, you and your buddies have them both rated above Nuss?

Lmao. You said you were sold on Nuss and that he was a better passer than Jayden before the season even started.

There are plenty that I could see an argument for, but none that are 100% better than our guy. Nuss vs Klubnik to open the season is a real treat for college football fans.

If we don’t figure out how to develop a run scheme, give me Lagaway. If we can have some semblance of a running game, give me Nuss.

I would put Nuss first in the SEC.
Langway would be in the conversation but Manning is still an unknown commodity.

Potential I would assume. Carson Beck's 2023 numbers are a good bit better than Nuss's 2024 numbers however I don't think very many people would take Carson Beck over Nuss. I'm not saying either side is right or wrong when it comes to Nuss/Arch/Lagway, but I could reasonably see arguments for all of them.

Only one guy, John Maater. He has a year of experience and is 100% the best dual threat in the country.
Other than that, you stick with Nuss because of continuity in the offense and his experience. Nuss has now thrown 740 passes, which is almost 2 full years of regular passes for a college QB.

quote:There is literally nothing to argue over next year between Arch and Nuss. While Arch could be more dynamic because of his running ability, he is inexperienced. He has a couple games under his belt , but that isn't close to the snaps Nuss has gotten over 4 years. Around 740 passes and familiarity with the offense as Sloan has been here for 3 years now. LSU added a crazy amount of speed at RB and WR going into 2025. We are most likely the fastest offense based on athlete speed.
He’s not more established, but he’s got more upside. You could pretty easily argue both sides.
Not official times but i can easily tell where these guys would be
RBs
Harlem Berry high 4.3s
Caden Durham, low 4.4s
WRs
Jelani Watkins high 4.2s to low 4.3s
Chris Hilton mid 4.3s
Barrion Brown mid 4.3s
Zavion Thomas low 4.4s
Nic Anderson mid 4.4s
Aaron Anderson mid 4.4s to high 4.4s

In order to win the Heisman, I believe consistency is pretty big requirement.

Neither Lagway or Arch have done enough to say they're better than Nuss right now. You can say Lagway has a higher ceiling because he does so for that reason maybe you'd take him. Arch has done absolutely nothing to think he's better than Nuss. He might end up that way but that one is kinda ridiculous. I'll give you Lagway but not Arch.
I mean, you would be taking Arch based on upside as well. It's not a stretch to say Arch has higher upside.

To be fair you were saying this in September of this season, too.

Football today will struggle with a pocket passer that cannot or does not run. Very similar to pro football, look at Joe Burrow, Cincy cannot finish in the red zone, just like Nuss and LSU. You better have a red zone answer, like a dual threat QB or a wild cat formation. LSU only ran the wildcat like one time and it was iin the bowl game. Blame the OC and force him to be creative or you better find a new QB.
Posted on 1/7/25 at 3:25 pm to iwyLSUiwy
Lagway has way more body of work to say his ceiling is higher. Arch does not have enough body of work to say he has a higher ceiling. You can see Lagway's athleticism and his ability in games. We've barely seen Arch. Lagway beat LSU at 50% of his ability. Right now it's definitely a stretch to say he has a higher ceiling based on body of work.
