Arizona State converted a few trick/fluke plays late in the 4th to make it a game, Clemson actually won 1 on 1's with regularity. And that was against a Thorpe award winner/1st rounder in Barron, 2nd in Mukuba, all american in Taaffe and future 1st in Muhammad.

Barron actually shut down Bryant Wesco that game. Wesco only had 34 receiving yards Barron was glued to him majority of the game. Malik Muhammad was the weak link for y’all that gsme Tj Moore ate him alive. I’m not sold on Muhammad as a first rounder his long speed is a question mark imo.

Texas defense was great but you’re acting like you completely shut down OSU. They still passed for nearly 300 yards and completed 72 percent of their throws. Klubnik actually had a lower YPC and QBR vs yall compared to Howard ( 8.8, 7.8 ) ( 90 , 81.5)

Depth wise you might be able to argue LSU has more talent but starting talent Clemson is more talented on paper. They're both close but they have more talent right now.

Dabo was smart to suffer past few years to keep this team together without relying on portal. This is their window and it's probably going to pay off for them. Just so happens this past few months was the first time he really dipped into transfer portal to get some key guys.

Clemson has a big advantage on paper just by them being at home and SHOULD have much better team chemistry than LSU in game 1. This is a horrible match up to play game 1. LSU can definitely win but it would mean that either LSU vastly surpassed already high expectations or Clemson gave LSU a lot of help.

LSU season is far from over if they lose this game but if LSU comes out and wins, I think it's a real good sign on where LSU will end up. They tend to play better as underdogs. The media seems to think LSU and Clemson are playoffs teams but everyone thinks LSU loses this game. I think that more just shows how much media really likes Clemson and still respecting LSU because they still feel we make it to playoffs. This Clemson team resembles more of what Dabo had when they were beating Alabama. This isn't the same Clemson team as last year that got beat by SEC teams.

Considering the stakes at play and LSU's recent opening day losses, I think this game is arguably bigger than Oregon was though that definitely was a big game too. The fact LSU slaughtered that team in 2011 when I think Oregon finished like #5 in the country says a lot. In fact, LSU slaughtered everyone that season except Bama and some really good teams too.

The first 15 minutes of the Oregon game you could see a big talent gap between LSU vs. Oregon. They were WAY over matched. I don't think you're going to see that in the Clemson game.

I'd have to go watch all-22, but Texas primarily sat in cover 3/4 last year and let Mukuba frick shite up as the ball hawk. Barron really didn't "shut him down". Clemson was successful because they have 2 elite zone busters in Moore/Wesco, Williams is great all around and Klubnik is extremely mobile with elite accuracy/decision making/a quick release.

Ohio State hit a 75 yard busted screen with 15 seconds left in the 1st half due to the dumbest blitz call in CFB history. Aside from that and their first/last drive, they were totally shut down the entire game. Howard held them back and their WR's couldn't exploit the secondary like Clemson's trio+Klubnik

edit: here's the film. Klubnik is one hell of a QB, team was completely different from the Georgia opener

That’s a fair point I watched majority of yalls games you were primarily a zone defense I just noticed the teams you did go man vs Clemson Malik Muhammad was who they opted to attack. It’ll be interesting to see how their wr room fares against our revamped backend. Our defensive philosophy is a lil diff than yall we are a man coverage heavy unit ideally. We didn’t have the personal to run press consistently last year but this year with added talent through the portal, HS recruiting and young upside guys on paper we have the guys to play bump n run agaisnt strong wr rooms

Yall def contained OSU’s offense the best. Howard is a see it and throw it type qb he’s not an anticipatory type thrower like Klubnik is klubnik has throw guys open ability that Howard doesn’t consistently have. I still need to see Cade be consistent vs ranked teams. He may have done well vs yall but he was not great vs SC, Georgia, or even Louisville

Yes, we are still alive if he drops it but the fanbase will incensed.
Let me go ahead and spew out one of the Pumptard Cheerleader MA excuses is we lose to Clemson.

100% this will be posted on here soon after the game is over if we lose.

"That's OK. It's just one game. Calm down and relax. We still have 11 more to go. We can win all the rest and finish 11-1. We' ll be Fine."

100%.

It's a 2-Game season!

You have to win that first game and then come back in 2 weeks and beat Florida.

You absolutely can't lose to Sunbelt Billy Boy 2 years in a row. With the game in Tiger Stadium at Night, that Florida game is "Life & Death" for BK if the Clemson game doesn't turn out in our favor.

Lose to Clemson and Florida; they'll never bounce back and it will be all over that early in the season..........

If they win the first game but fade at the end of the season, the “fanbase” will say BK put too much emphasis on the first game.

I'd have to say the Oregon game was at least as big as this. They had just come off of a National Championship game loss to Auburn and were out to prove they could beat an SEC team in a big moment. They had a lot of returning talent and the media buzz around the game was huge.

That being said, this year's opener is a giant; I might add appreciated and fun/exciting. I ain't interested in seeing the cupcake matchups. I'd rather lose this than blow out the School of the Blind by 45. Anyway, to echo what a lot of other people are saying on here, if LSU can show up looking somewhat competent for a change, a loss doesn't mean a whole lot.

If you are going in expecting us to win, I question your judgement. Games are won up front, and there is no way that we should feel like we would win this game based on those matchups.

We have the skill players to make a splash, but I honestly don't see a world where we are going to be able to run the ball (which is mandatory) enough to keep them from getting after Nuss through our new O-Line. Hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised, but I just want us to look competitive and grow moving into conference play. Let the chips falls where they may and make a playoff run.

He really doesn’t though. Realistically, we could still go 11-1. On paper, Clemson could be the best team we play all year

I was at that game, it was fun. The Oregon fans were smug before the game and shell shocked after.

The crazy thing is if you lose the opener and can even lose another game and still make the playoffs. It is not the BCS era anymore that a season opener can cost you the rest of the season.

still, I'd rather curb stomp our way to the playoffs rather than backing into them

Maybe similar to Oregon in 2011. I would like to see the same results with the defense showing they were going to be a bad arse.

Pre-game vibe at Jerry’s World vs Oregon was playoff level, the buzz was electric. I can only hope DV Jr provides such an atmosphere.

We have traveled to the last four or five openers. We made a week of the trips to all of the locations but the focus was always the game. We were disappointed with the outcome every time.

We aren’t going to this one. Not because we don’t love the Tigers but because the logistics just don’t line up for us.

But we both just feel like this is the team that can get it done. He’s way more into recruiting and the coaches and stuff than I am but he doesn’t often talk this optimistic.

He’s not a football guru. But he bets and does well during college football.

I had the same concern when we played Oregon, when they were supposed to be extremely good. I remember some from Oregon saying after the game, they had never seen players that big and fast as that LSU team that destroyed them.
I hope we have the same results with Clemson.

He had to have last year and was fricking embarrassed by a shitty USC team. Should’ve had at least the first game against FSU and didn’t. Has the worst fricking preparation I’ve ever seen. He will probably frick up again. I hope I’m wrong but he will probably frick up again.
