Good grief give it a rest, never seen so many obsessed with a coach that did nothing in the tournament.
He was pulled from coaching the tournament twice in his 5 year spell. He made the NCAA tourney in 3 out of his 5 seasons (2019, 2021, 2022). One of those five seasons (2020) was the covid year where it was cut short and he probably wouldve made the tourney that season. The team was looking very good. His first season he had LSU in the NIT and coached that. Second year, SEC champions and sweet 16 without him coaching in the tourney. The one year he coached the tourney in 2021 they made the second round but it wasnt his best team at LSU. 2022 he did not coach the tourney again.
The revisionist history of Wade at LSU is funny. He was a great coach that was fricked over religiously. Sure he made mistakes and he won't come back. Having said that, he is, by far, the best coach we've had in Basketball. Had he been given time and support, there is no doubt the team would've made a tourney run and won a few other SEC championships. During his 5 seasons, LSU was 2nd in conference in SEC wins. We were a top program in conference under Wade.
That's all that needs to be said.

No, this is revisionist history.
In today's context that might be the case but not in the context back then.
First he hid from his employer like a chickenshit who had something to hide. No one gets to do that in the real world because everyone answers to someone.
Secondly, the possible infractions coupled with the concomitant review of the football program put LSU in a precarious and embarrassing situation.
Maybe he was sacrificed to save a "Lack of Institutional Control" finding. I don't know and neither does any fricking person on this forum.
Sure, now that the NCAA's committee on infractions has become a paper tiger, it all seemed inconsequential but, back then, it was a real fear.
He wasn't innocent. Coupled with the football investigation and both programs being penalized, I think the BOS and administration felt this was best for the OVERALL good of LSU.
Had Woodward been able to attract a better hoops successor who was winning I doubt we would be talking about Will Wade right now.

Don’t get Wade? Wade wouldn’t come back.

The NCAA hasn't had ONE OUNCE of power in at least the last 15 years.
Patton Oswalt's retarded little sister was doing her ex boyfriend (Emmert) a solid by offering up Wade's head on a spike. Bob Brodhead would've told the NCAA to fluck right on off, and been successful. This ain't the mid 80s anymore when the NCAA could nail you.
Also, that pussy libtard we just had as an AD wanted to keep being invited to the cocktail parties, and keep her substantial salary coming twice a month. As a result, she wouldn't dare to rock the boat.
Do I know all of the above as 100% fact? No, but it's about as logical a scenario as possible. Too many other big schools have told the NCAA to kick rocks-we didn't.
The problem LSU has had for decades is we have this weird obsession with APPEARING to be playing by the rules when you can't possibly do that and win big.
We used to (not sure now) have a stringent drug test for weed. Schools like Bama laughed at us. Each school was allowed to set their own standards for drug testing. We chose to take the "applying for a secret service job" level of testing.
If memory serves, Saban got rid of that never been laid before Bo Bahnsen, and we were able to compete better. Then Bahnsen came back under Lesssss and we had players failing drug tests constantly.
It would be great if all schools would compete fairly. But there's way too much money involved for that to be a reality. We need a coach (and staff) that does what it takes to be elite. I think we have that with Kiffin.
We'd have it with Wade back, too. If not him, someone as good or better is fine by me.

I agree. I’d rather lsu basketball be good but LeBron James and Steph curry have absolutely destroyed th game of basketball.
Basketball players are the new soccer players. Biggest pansies in sports.

If the job opens up then he will be at the top of the list.
I don't think he's "planning" to come back. The NC State job is not a bad job.
I do know for certain there was a push last year to get him back to LSU, which he wasn't against. That push was cut off quickly by Tate and Woodward who were NOT going to agree to rehire him. THAT is why we are having to suffer through year 4 of McMahon. Tate/Woodward were not going to allow the LSU job to be open while Wade was at McNeese and actively looking to get a power conf. job.
For those saying "LSU will never hire him back", LSU is an entity...not a living, breathing "thing". Like any entity, it's represented by people. And the people who are in charge of LSU now are not the same ones were in charge 4 years ago....or even 6 months ago. The President, 85% of the BOS, and the AD are different from those in place when the decision to fire Wade was made. That means they aren't particularly concerned with the "sins" of 5, 6, 7 years ago. Particularly when that "sin" (paying players) is no longer a sin, but rather an integral part of college sports now.
LSU will make a run at Wade. Particularly considering they are paying McMahon MORE to be the worst coach in the conference for going on 4 years than NC State is paying Wade. That's not to say a reunion is certain. It isn't. By any means. But the people who wanted him at LSU to coach this season are still here. The people who didn't want him at LSU aren't.

What do you think our ending SEC record will be?
I was somewhat hopeful, thinking maybe 8-10 (best), but mostly 5-13 / 7-11 prior to this start.
Losing to USCe with or without DJ was devastating.

It's really hard to see more than 5 wins (if that). Of course the loss of Thomas has been big. But you are also seeing the same trend in SEC we've always seen under McMahon. Generally LSU's is competitive in the first game of SEC play. Sometimes two. Then soon after is when the wheels generally fall off. You are seeing that now. Close loss on the road to start...then two straight double digit loses where LSU didn't have the lead in either game for a single second. That is because opposing coaches are quick to adjust. McMahon doesn't and never has. It's just the same approach and hope for the best.
I think there will be nights where they put together decent play and catch a few teams. But that can only happen so many times. And LSU won't have a true home court advantage at any point this season because the fanbase as a whole has given up on McMahon.

It’s one of the stranger things on here for sure! The fact that people think LSU or Wade would consider a reunion is wild

His buyout on April 1, 2026 is only 3 Mill. Only making 2.5 Mill with 150k raise...
Just, don't be shocked if he is the coach on April 1 (unless the current staff turns it around soon).

Curious to understand why you think a consideration would be "wild"?
1. "LSU" that fired Wade is not "LSU" that exist today. Namely the President, AD, and majority of the BOS. To the contrary. LSU's President is very familiar with Wade having employed Wade at McNeese. Several on the BOS are not opposed to a Wade reunion. "LSU" wouldn't be the impediment if Wade would consider returning.
2. Wade is making less than McMahon this season. Beyond that, Wade and his family spent 7 of the last 8 years in Louisiana. He's well connected with the donors, and they like him (unless you are one of those naive fools who think Wade was making "strong arse offers" with his own money"). By the end of this season he may have too good of a thing going at NC State to want to make another change. But this wouldn't be a drastic change for he and his family. In fact, it would be the least drastic of any change he could potentially make.

The fans (generally speaking) did not want Wade fired. Wade did not want to leave LSU. He has the highest winning % at LSU since the 1920's. His first 5 seasons was the best start of a career at LSU in program history.
The better question is why any "fan" having to sit through the worst 4 year stretch of basketball since the mid-90's would NOT want to bring that guy back to lead the program?

Whenever I read bullshite like this it makes me chuckle.
"Move on from Sam Leavitt!!! He done gone and turned us down. I ain't gonna be no bitch and beg him to come back."
Recruiting kids or rehiring an old coach isn't like stalking an ex. There's a certain amount of arse kissing you have to do to get the right people running or playing for your program.
It appears Lane got caught over a barrel by preferring the Williams kid over Leavitt. It seems he's had to do an appropriate amount of fence mending/arse kissing to reel him back in.
It sure beats the alternative of signing a second rate QB because you're too proud to beg.
