Deep down they know what the future holds for them. They will slowly slip back to mediocrity. Instead of enjoying the great moments their team is having now, they are more interested in finding anything bad with LSU they can point out. Its a coping mechanism.

Because the free agency period is open right now and other programs are trying to sign players. Ole Miss, like every team, still has to put together a roster for next season. Teams in every professional sport routinely offer and sign players on their rosters to contract extensions well before they become "Free agents". Many times DURING the season. The reason is because they want to do what they can to ensure those desired players remain on their team for future seasons. Why wait to resign a player if the team and player are willing to enter into a deal now? Again, if guys like Chambliss and Lacy don't like the terms of Ole Miss's offer they don't have to sign.
This isn't a particularly novel concept.
