It is until it isn't. They weren't going to buy out BK until the TAM debacle. The problem is if you don't get Wade are you better off keeping mcmahon than rolling the dice on another mid major coach because that is going to be the most logical path. The boosters may see it as he has had a couple of injuries that kept this team out of the tournament and it may be financially better to give him another substantial NIL deal and run another year. But the program has just about gotten to rock bottom and if they are convinced he can't recover than the boosters may step up. It really all depends on if they can get a commitment from Wade after the season. If they do decide to make a move and can't get Wade then the St Louis coach might be a good option but I don't see them getting a big name P4 coach.

As much as I hope we re-hire Wade, he is not the only much better coach we could still get over McMahon. McMahon has set the bar INCREDIBLY low

There are literally ZERO scenarios where keeping McMonotone is the right decision.

Gosh you are DEEP into the cult. I’ll pray for you.

Honest question. Do you really believe this BS? Or is it just part of keeping up the contrarian at all costs? You don't have such abysmal results over the course of 4 years, and 100+ games, because of "bad luck". There have been 40+ players come through this program over the last 4 years and two constants: (1) McMahon and (2) losing at a league worst level. Pehaps instead of trying to "fix" everything around the ONE constant figure, McMahon, LSU should just try to fix the very obvious problem.
Is hiring a mid-major coach a risk? Sure. But this program can't get any worse and there's no guarantee LSU wouldn't be in the EXACT same position 1, 2, 3 years later (i.e. having to hiring a mid-major coach). In fact, it's likely that whether LSU hires a HC this year or three years from now, he's going to be coming from the mid-major ranks.
Over the last 4 seasons we have exhausted every logical, illogical, and downright stupid excuse to "explain"/justify the horrible results outside the obvious glaring problem that was evident 4 years ago...McMahon is not the right guy for this program, at this level of competition, and this time in the history of college basketball. I don't think you can genuinely call yourself an LSU basketball fan if you think in any way, shape, or form, retaining McMahon for a 5th year is a good idea. Because otherwise, by doing so you are saying "I don't care if this team wins and I don't have any desire to be a fan of a winning basketball program."
EVERY.YEAR it has been the EXACT same cycle. Optimism>failure in the actual games>excuses why the failure is everyone's fault but McMahon>promise of change>baseless optimism>predictable failure once more. Now, 4 years later, just when you think every dumb excuse has been exhausted a new one arises....it's better to keep MM for cost reasons. If that is the excuse, then just shut the program down for a few years. Save the expense of having to host men's basketball games because they aren't going to win, and no one is attending anyway.

So he can go spend big on Baileys and Tambas and bring in minimal shooting and rebounding? One problem hardly anyone mentions is he has no clue how to build a roster in this era, nor what it takes to compete at this level. Thomas is the nicest player he’s signed out of the portal. Most others don’t adapt or simply aren’t good enough.

Right. Terrible idea. We’d get a bunch of 1 year mediocre mercenaries from small schools named Jaylen Reid or Jayden Reese or some variation of that same name that seems to be shared by all of McMahon’s players

First, it doesn't make that much money relatively speaking. And yeah, it makes sense not to lose the respect of the college sports world that LSU is fielding a JOKE of a basketball program and too STUPID to do anything about that to try to improve the situation. The more you post the more you sound like you despise LSU.

I'm not melting but then again a mentally ill, delusional nobody would probably be easily deceived. After all, you probably think your posts actually make sense. Typical moron.

Here is bama’s 2024-25 athletic revenue breakdown for anyone wondering. LSU could easily have numbers like this for men’s & women’s basketball if they’d get their priorities in order.

Thomas is good no doubt. However he has had an injury history prior to LSU. Maybe it took the $2M or so to get Thomas here but it seems foolish to place a good chunk of money into a player that has been injured. The return on that investment has been minimal due to time missed.
McMahon is just absolutely clueless all the way around. He’s only been good at decimating this program.
