re: It's really quiet about the coaching search

The quieter, the better. The more an impatient fan base gets frustrated, the better the search is being run (or there is an agreement in place).
Let's just all agree that a few things are bound to happen:
-rumors will come and go.
-most of said rumors will simply be for guys fishing for raises from the schools that they coach for already.
-LSU is much better off with Woodward making this hire instead of Joe A.
-everything else is gravy.
From a "reliable source" I think even LSU has been taken aback by the amount of interest in the job....from some big names in the sport. That said, they are trying to filter out who is actually interested and who is simply trying to use the opening as leverage for a better deal at their current school.
The rest of the CBB world knows LSU is a VERY attractive job. Maybe even the most attractive in the game. Thus, AD's at other schools have to take their HC's interest in the LSU job seriously if there is reciprocal interest from LSU.
On the flip side, HC's and agents know the LSU job may be the best leverage opportunity they may get in a while because LSU is absolutely willing to pay top dollar for a top HC. I don't think it is that much hyperbole to say that damn near every coach in the CBB world has quietly expressed interest in the job. The question is what interest is "real"? It could be a case where if you hear public rumblings about a guy he is likely trying to leverage his current school. If you hear nothing, particularly about guys who will be playing deep into the postseason, their interest could be real.

It's really quiet about the coaching search

quote:This is the most significant part of your post. Every agent, in order to be a good agent, has to let LSU know their client is interested. It’s their job to know the market. It’s their job to use the leverage as an advantage for their client whether LSU or the coach is actually interested. It’s why the KOS rumors mean nothing… for now.

You mean we are not hiring Javi Sanchez?

A coach has already been hired

I don't think there will be a surprise.
It's quiet right now, because every candidate has a team about to start a regional; and Mainieri is, too.
Given what happened with the football defensive coordinator search, I'm pretty certain the next official statement on this, will be introducing the next guy at the podium.

LSU is in much better position to hire with Woodward than if Alleva was doing this. Much better

I think he's the only big name that hasn't been named. Or at least not in a serious manner. Everyone expects that he's just not leaving Vandy. He's in a perfect situation there. Plus, he's already 59.

Without a doubt. Woodward hasn't left me scratching my head, yet.

Johnny Jones and Trent Johnson set LSU basketball back a decade

I was at LSU during the Johnny Jones era, the crazy preacher people in free speech alley drew larger crowds than LSU MBB then.

Not officially but he has said "yes" and doesn't want one shred of media about this until he makes the announcement to his team first after his the season is over?
Is he is hosting a regional?
Is he is hosting a regional?

What does this mean?
Do you mean IF he is hosting a regional?
If that’s a hint then it’s not a very good one since every name that’s been talked about is hosting
