We were very athletic last season but McMahon’s best chance is with polished, veteran offensive players so that’s the direction he went this year. Of course there’s the issue of him being a poor coach so there’s really no style of roster that’ll work.

But the services cater to their customers on a year tound basis so I’d bet they help us a bit.
We don’t have a passionate men’s basketball fanbase anywhere close to enough to justify services adjusting their rankings to favor us.

Duke? UNC? Kansas? Sure.

For LSU? Not a chance. That’s just a made up narrative to remove some accountability for CoachMc. It’s the we don’t have the talent to compete because the services were just catering to us for clicks. Nonsense.

If I remember correctly we couldn’t shoot.

What coach doesn’t do better with polished veteran players if they are good?

He’s never had a good roster at LSU. If he did he might surprise us. The fact he can’t recruit makes his coaching ability a moot question, He can’t get good players.

The rating services don’t just do hoops.

We maybe you are right, but anyone watching our guys can see we don’t have good players. I don’t care what the services ranked ‘em. They aren’t good.

You said athleticism not shooting. His second season we had the best perimeter shooting team at LSU in the last 17 years so that didn’t work either. Plenty of coaches do just fine without polished veteran offensive players, Houston being the prime example. He’s had multiple top 20 rosters and every one of his rosters has been ranked 17 spots higher than Florida’s last season which won the national title so it’s not a talent issue.

We are specifically discussing the men’s basketball rankings under CoachMc. You think they adjusted to make his classes look better on paper because we have a lot of football and baseball fans?

That is a huge stretch by any measure and easily comes across as another make up excuse. We aren’t 54 SEC losses in 4 years talentless, the dude just isn’t a major conference coach. His Murray State record was good, but that’s a consistent program. Fun fact, he guided Murray State to its first losing record for a season in its last 20+ years at the time he was there.

It’s completely false is what it is and you can look at other big time football programs to prove it. Again Florida being the #1 example

I was throwing out that as a their rankings are off. Maybe it’s not that. I do know the services seem to cater to their customers.

Maybe that’s not the reason, but what is?

And I’m not defending MM. He hasn’t brought in the talent. Contrast that with WW who brought in the talent. Huge difference.

Woodward said in the middle of last season after one of the rare SEC wins that lack of NIL was the problem. His media mouthpieces harped on it and said we’re upping the ante this season to let CoachMc build his squad to his liking. And yet here we are again. And now someone will chime in that DJ got hurt, so it’s not on the coach getting run out of the gym by the SEC’s worst teams.

I have a .750 winning percentage coaching CYO, LSU intramural and BR youth teams. My teams never lost consecutive games. I'm confident that I could win more than 23.9 percent of my conference games (McMahon's current percentage at 17-54), I'd do it for far less for one year and I'd even help them recruit my replacement.

I’m 32. I’ve rarely seen our basketball team be good. I saw the Big baby days and that’s really all I can remember where we had a great team. When I went to LSU I saw the days of Keith Hornsby and Ben Simmons, which was way better than what we have now but still not anything great. I would say the millenial generation of LSU is used to great football and baseball teams. Basketball has become an after thought at LSU

33 and went to LSU Basketball camp as a kid when they had Stromile Swift, Ronald Dupree, Torris Bright. That was a fun team

LSU has the resources to compete...even if they are not being tapped at the moment. It just doesn't have the HC to do so...or get anywhere close

Do we have boosters not currently giving money?

I don’t want basketball to pull resources away from other sports.
