He got Safford too thanks to Uncle Brandon. He was so good, PM locked him down in 10th grade with an offer.

Several in state outfielders are rated higher in the state than Stevenson.

According to prep baseball report, there are two. One is signed with LSU and one is a late pop up kid signed with Louisiana Tech.

Two doesn't equal several and 50% of the higher ranked in state outfielders are coming to LSU.

Who is the 3rd? Pearson, Stevenson, and who else?

Kenya Huggins from St Aug. He committed to LaTech after the first signing day (in November), which is why I say he's a late pop up guy.

We have Crews, Sanford, and Drost to go with whoever comes back plus Stevenson and Pearson. Safford can play OF. Jobert is coming in as a 1B/DH but can play OF.

In the infield, we have Doughty, Thompson, Arnold, and Morgan with Simon and Holt coming in.

Sure, at catcher, we went out of state. But, Moller and Jensen are 1000X better than any catcher prospect in Louisiana. We just need to get 1 of them to campus, and fix our current catchers.

Our pitching recruiting hasn't been great.

Yes you need out of state guys but if the locals don’t want to play for you, you have a real problem

I don't agree. If it's a kid who has always had LSU as his dream school, but he goes elsewhere, that's a real problem.

But some kids want to go out of state, and some parents encourage or mandate that their kids go out of state, to be own their own, chart their own path, and leave the bubble, etc. It's more nuanced that simply saying - we have a real problem because a Louisiana kid went out of state.

yep could have thrown way down the line---- threw their #1 guy and had a whopping 1-0 lead going in to the bottom of the 6th

If you all want to see some serious talent on a high school team, tune into Friendswood High School in Texas. Their 3rd baseman/shortstop, Pacheco, is a stud committed to TAMu, but will likely not make it to campus. They have 4-5 D1 players that are excellent.

Pacheco is a legitimate 6’4” 220 lb monster and is so fluid that you can see why people drool over him.

I have followed football recruiting for many years but it is vastly different than baseball recruiting. Really good players in baseball tend to sign years in advance and don't tend to flip like football. I think kids develop earlier now than in years past. There are videos to learn proper form at their fingertips, travel ball, etc.
So as a recruiting coordinator you need to figure out how these kids are going develop from a 15 year old to an 18 year old, not always easy. You have to figure out, who is too good and will go pro. You have to figure out how to divide the available scholarships. You have to figure out what your team needs will be, sometimes years in advance. I would think it is very complicated and a big margin for error.

Why would kids want to go to LSU? LSU has a reputation, that is starting to fade but still is nationally recognized. It has good facilities but they are fading there as well. They have a great fan base but even that is fading. I'm not sure what recruits think of our present coaching staff but I don't think it is as bad as the rant believes. However, something new there is needed.

I think it is time for the administration to pump some life into this program. A new, hungry baseball coach is needed at this point. We need a coach that is enthused about recruiting. We need a coach that is going to push the administration for more support. We could upgrade our facilities. We could do a lot more to galvanize our fan base. Streaming scrimmages, no mask nazis, better reporting, they could have partially opened up practices, etc. We need a coach that is going to push administration for these things. Ask yourself what makes Mulkey such a great coach? We need that same personality type to push baseball back to greatness.
