No more A ball and a smaller draft will be accepted by the union in exchange for a salary floor.

SEC players, by and large, are still being sent to Low A or High A to begin their pro career. And playing in the SEC is not above playing in AA. There may be particular innings or particular matchups that are like that, but it's few and far between.
not all the time but much more prepared than high school kids. I can see MLB going away from so many levels of ball in the future and trusting more development, free of charge, in cbb.

Selfishly I would love for the draft to condense down to 10-15 rounds and they do get rid of A ball and just have rookie ball for a bit or something for newcomers year 0/1 I(whatever you want to call after being drafted).
Would be interesting to see how they treat international players/high schoolers if they still let teams draft/sign them as 17-18-19 year olds or not though, knowing they have to compete in AA right away (or after year 0/1). If they said you need college at least 1 year, JUCOs would absolutely HUGELY benefit since you're eligible each year in JUCO.
No idea what they will ultimately do, but it is interesting after condensing the draft from 40 to 20 rounds (less during covid year obviously) they just kept that going. It certainly would be a nice expense off MLB teams back to get rid of another layer of minor league cost to them and push that on colleges as much as possible. We've certainly seen a shift of more and more college players being drafted seems like compared to high school ones.

I didn't say all the time, I said by and large. Now if you take out the Angels, it's almost every single time. And if you want to talk about the extreme cases of college guys, you also have to talk about the extreme cases of high school guys, like Bobby Witt, Evan Carter, etc.
And make no mistake about this, MLB isn't outsourcing development if the cut more minor league levels. They're outsourcing washout.

Yeah I also think A ball is going the way of the dinosaur, id be shocked if it didnt.
But, yeah, CBA negotiations are a crapshoot

It’s not where you start, but how long you stay there.
College players who make the show spend less time in the minors.

Are they making the majors at a younger age though?

CJJ 's Arizona CWS team came within one out of winning that NC. That would have given him 3 NC's out of his last 4 CWS's appearances.

Jay has mentioned several times that he wasn't happy how the MLB draft took so many of his signees this past year with high offers.
He knows that the current setup of college baseball requires a bunch of old players to compete, but he also likes taking young ones to develop over the years.

The only foreigners that can get drafted are Canadians.

Jay Johnson is turning into "Baseball Nick Saban."
He's an "Anti-MA" like Saban. (DOESN'T ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY)

In the end for guys like that no real amount of NIL is going to compete with their signing bonuses in college baseball
