It will be interesting to see if this is a one year aberration because of a poor season and (probably to some degree) unexpected loss of young players? Or if he now feels HS prospects are more unreliable in terms of their ability to contribute early and/or willingness to be developed over the course of 3 years, thus leading him to rely on transfers more?
You can't take too many developmental guys when the likelihood is they won't stay here long enough to get developed.

its weird how some are upset about this approach yet they're the same ones who expect to be in Omaha every year. If that is your expectation, then waiting on your freshmen class to develop will no longer be a thing here because the fans don't have the patience for it and nor do the players.

They can’t all transfer either though.

I think the Milam and Larsons will rise to the top as freshmen and then you will get the occasional Frey who sticks around but if they don't show anything by their sophomore year, they need to move on for the most part.

Well no but between the draft and attrition what % do you think make it 3+ years anymore ?

Jump, Herring. Braswell, and Jones all coming back. That would merit an emoji.

Eddie Smith is a favorite for the Washington head coaching job now too.
ETA: Make that the new head coach at Washington. Happy for that guy I really liked him when Mainieri brought him in.

LSU baseball is becoming Kentucky basketball with these 1 year players and I’m not mad about it
