Kansas State will attempt to fire Tang for cause. Tang has a buyout of more than $18 million, per the terms of his contract, but Taylor believes Tang's public criticisms of the players and the response that press conference spurred in the national media violated the terms of his contract.

CMM is too nice to do this.

You think David Patrick is going to get the job? Just like Frank Wilson concerns a few months ago?

It's unnecessary concern.

We have to disagree here. Wilson was never a viable candidate because of the nature of the influential power brokers within LSU football, plus very recent sour taste of how the Orgeron tenure ended.

The power brokers within LSU basketball are more influenced by personalities. It's part of why MM got another year and probably partly why Brady was canned midseason after going to a Final Four just 2 seasons earlier.

I'm also not certain Patrick would be the interim.

The saving grace may be the influence of Wade Rousse. He seems like more of a clean house sort of guy.

I get that a mid-season firing may gin up some enthusiasm, but I just don't see it happening, and I am not sure it really buys anything. LSU can signal the intent to move on behind the scenes and gauge the interests of coaches they like without immediately firing MM.

I agree with all of this. There’s only six regular season games left and honestly, we probably will win at most two of those. Let MM twist in the wind for another 3 weeks and then hopefully clean house as soon as we are bounced from Nashville (no later than that Thursday most likely).

Getting assurance that he’s definitely gone at season’s end is the real question and worry.

Tang was fired with cause because of a statement he made about his players. Now they probably used that as an excuse and it remains to be seen if he appeals but not the same situation.

I personally think if CoachMc was going to be fired in-season it would have been after the Arkansas embarrassment. I agree there isn’t much to gain.

I was playing devils advocate and hypothesizing on an interim being hired long term.

It’s amazing to me that I almost can’t wait for the season to be over. Me. That’s how far we’ve fallen.

You and me both. I'm getting borderline surly about this MBB season. And I'm the resident sunshine pumper.

He's had a run of bad luck, especially with Reed, who is a phenomenal talent, though we haven't seen much of it thanks to injuries. The thing is, coaches deal with this all the time. MM can't ever seem to pivot to a good position when things go off schedule or off script. As an SEC coach, you have to be able to at least salvage a decent outcome half the time on these types of disruptions.

He is gone, unless he basically runs the table without his best player, including SEC tournament. Dead man walking. I'll take a ban bet on it.

I will leave his faith out of it if he doesn’t try to shove it in our face.

Not really a reason for firing him of course. But his shilling would be too over the top for LSU.

I am assuming the wheels are in motion. Likely even talked to CMM about it. Too bad. Moseley has a lot of talent and Reese is starting to play really well at point.

If a new coach comes in but Reese, Reed, Thomas, and one of Miller and Nwoko return there will be a solid base to work with.

I wonder if this is the case. McMahon had a pretty interesting comment in his press conference after the Arkansas game where he said he was “just grateful for everything.”

I could’ve reading too much into it but it struck me as somewhat telling.

Nothing Verge has said has given me confidence he will be fired.

Can easily see them playing the injury card and bringing him back

That’s a worry of mine as well. But if you have two or three more iterations of the home Arkansas PMAC atmosphere, I don’t see how a change isn’t made

LSU doesn't really benefit from firing MM during the season.
Why fire MM mid season when EVERYONE knows you are not getting Will Wade until the end of the season!

Relax.
