What's Gibbs BA? He hasn't really come around either liked i hoped. Didn't he strike out today with a guy in scoring position?
I'd like to add though. he is a bad arse catcher. Heard Jim call the game yesterday and say he almost threw a guy out at first from his knees. Said the OM guy got up and was shocked he made that type of throw.

I want those stats done for Gibbs,Dean as well. They should be about the same as Landry. He sure isnt the only one struggling.

Gibbs isn't much in front of Landry for sure. But is another great defensive player.
Dean helped himself out immensely yesterday, but laid an egg today.

do you have a suitable replacment for Gibbs at C? I agree he's struggling at the plate as well, but unlike the outfield there isn't much depth there

Ochinko could replace Gibbs at catcher and then either Haydel or Dozar would start at 1st for O.
(Not saying I would do it, just saying that's possible)

Does anybody remember how painful it was to watch Helenihi the last half of last season/postseason?
Bottom line, Maineri GUSHES when he talks about Leon. Landry isn't going to the bench unless this goes on, and I'm saying he's about to BLOW UP.
Call it a hunch.
Or medication.

Not a huge fan of Ochinko back to C

To be honest I wonder if he is in a slump or if he is just not that good of a hitter. We all know that Dean is in a slump and will eventually come out of it. But I'm not sure about Leon. But until Chad Jones comes back there's not a whole lot we can do. The only legitimate option I see is putting Mitchell in CF, Dean in LF, and putting Nola at DH, assuming he can't play outfield. But that's a pretty drastic change that may not be worth doing.

He's not as good as Gibbs but he can get the job done...I mean it's either him or Kevin Farnsworth

except absolutely nothing wrong with 8 rbi's in 9 games, thats pretty good IMO
I'd like to know how many times he has left people on base in those 32 ABs, and from that number, how many of those 15 strikeouts came with runners on

i dont care how good he is at defense. you need runs to win a ball game. bottom line

I think Ochinko is batting as good as he is because he doesn't have to worry about playing catcher.
Landry isn't slumping, he's just not a good hitter.
Dean and Gibbs are slumping, because they've both shown that they're actually really good hitters.

Differnt subject same game,
Should Ross have had an opportunity to finish his game? He only had 87 pitches. 2 hits through 8 and both hits were controversial.
IDK?

Comparing offensive stats for these two positions is silly. If you have a great defensive catcher that calls a great game then most coaches would be happy if he hits over .250 and has the ability to drive in a few runs.
Your CF should NOT be a position you sacrifice a Great Defender for a Good Hitter. BTW, LL is a good defensive player that makes a # of great catches b/c he is fearless and b/c he misjudges balls a lot. He is far from being Griffey Jr or anything like that. He NEEDS to put the ball in play if he is going to stay in the lineup. Ks put no pressure on the defense to make a play.

i am sort of making this up for the sake of conversation, but what if landry really does have a perception problem. it seems to be his problem in both fielding and hitting. maybe he does need lasik.
worked for dbowe i think

back down to the farm

landry needs to sit out a few games. we have way too many good players that would love a chance to play and bat. they should get the chance to show their stuff. it's not like landry didn't get a chance to get out of a slump but he's killing the team at the plate and should sit out for a while until he can get his shite together.

This really isn't much of a slump him offensively. He was hitting poorly (compared to the team) last year too.
Not saying that he set the world on fire (.294), but he still had a better BA in conference play last year than Helenihi, Shimpf and Ochinko. The SOs are bad. I think the early success that he had this season may be causing him to press even harder and not be patient at the plate.
