It's easier to DP a slower runner and all bags if possible

I agree though

Why do people keep saying there was a force?

Papierski has taken a beating from this board his whole career. I'm glad he was the guy tonight.
Not his first heroics either. He's clutch.

I probably would have walked Watson to get to Jordan, but I thought the smith walk was the call for msu there

No it wasn't.

Watson single drove in Deichmann
Jordan single to right, Watson was moving on the pitch and went to 3B.

Smith is walked for Pap.

Lol, really? They brought the infield in and tried to get the double play or a force out at home (usually only on a bunt or dribbler to the mound). Once you get the 2nd out, you drop back and play for the force out.
The strike out is the wanted outcome but you hope to keep the ball on the ground.

It would be one thing to walk the bases loaded if Rooker or Deichmann were batting, but other than that...no. Double play was already set up. It's ok to admit it....AC screwed that one up.

How is it hindsight to clarify that the DP was already in play?

It is not. It is hindsight to suggest the worse option was to load the bases for a guy who has already caught 8 innings of baseball in a Louisiana June in lieu of leaving the bat in a much quicker but less experienced guy named Josh Smith.

incorrect. runners on 1st and 3rd. watson was on first, and we called a hit and run and beau singled through the right side and watson got to third, beau stayed at first. then smith was walked to load the bases.

Alright, so it was a cool day (haven't been around BR or checked the weather lately). It was still the eighth inning. And Smith tagged from first on a fly ball to center. The dude can run.

Spirit of my thread checks out. He walked to get to Papierski thinking he has a better chance of getting him out or GIDP. That's all there is to it.

Runners were already on first and third, he walked a freshmen, put a runner in scoring position to face arguably lsu's hottest hitter. Cannizaro fricked up, he was outcoached tonight. Hard pill for some lsu fans to swallow.

Dont know why people keep saying they had runners on 2nd and 3rd.....we didnt

I get the idea. Just don't see why you'd load the bases with a DP already in place and a freshman up to bat. While Smith is faster than Pap, he's not impossible to roll 2 on.

I look at it the other way around. LSU freshmen Haven't been playing like freshman as of late. The last one you face just knocked one guy in and is standing on third. The coach pulled a phenomenal pitcher off the mound in favor of a freshman.

Now you have men on 1,3, one down. Guy at the plate can fly. Next guy up cannot. Every single is a run. At least several different ground balls from Smith are a run or puts you back to men on 1,3 with 2 down. Almost any ground ball to the infield from the next guy up is a double play. Neither guy is tearing the cover off the ball, there are just more scenarios where the slower runner plays to your favor.

I don't think either one was a bad decision. It didn't work out well for him. The other way may not have either. LSU refused to lose.

I'm happy for Papierski, but I have no idea why he froze when he was on third and got caught in a run down. I thought he should have been sprinting for home as soon as the ball was hit. I mean, soon as he realized it was going to hit on the third base line. Either that or get back to the third base bag. He looked like a deer in headlight's for a second there, just froze. I saw him getting his shite jumped by coach Man. He needed to try making up for that somehow. Every player, regardless how good, are going to screw up at some point. It's the competitors, the one's who refuse to lose, that will find a way to compensate for it.
