We are a blue blood program, but I’ve predicted the future and it is as clear as day that we need to establish a recruiting pipeline or farm system to feed our program. Consider a Major League Baseball team with a farm system that consists of A, AA, and AAA ball. We need to establish certain agreements with various schools to be a similar pipeline into our program.

For instance to monopolize Louisiana, ULL could be our AA school and would pay top dollar for recruiting skill players out of high school or a Junior College. These players would spend a year or so maturing/developing in their system. A traditional path would then have that player progress to Tulane, our AAA school. If the player proves themself at Tulane, they would then achieve a bigger payday and be promoted to play for LSU.

The stakes are too high for us to be paying freshmen millions of dollars to sit on the bench all season. We would only accept freshmen on our team in the rare case where they are a generational talent that can contribute immediately or if we have gaps in our roster that need to be filled.

For this to work, we will need to sign exclusive agreements with schools to establish our farm system. Also the schools in our network (farm system) would not need to be exclusive to Louisiana. The above is just one example of a pipeline for players to play for LSU and compete for National Championships.

Tulane made the playoffs.

Why would they strike a deal with LSU

Bobby, that was just an example to help you visualize the future.

For a school to sign an exclusive agreement with us, it would have to be beneficial for both sides. It doesn’t have to be Tulane. It could be IMG or any other school/institution that our program deems acceptable and there is a mutual benefit.

Junior college. Wouldn’t hurt their eligibility.

What you're proposing, strictly speaking, isn't ever going to work. However I could definitely see some larger schools developing more informal relationships where for example we, hypothetically speaking, would encourage a promising but project type high school player to sign with a smaller school we have a good relationship with (and that has a good coaching staff) to play and develop for a year or two and then pull them in once they've grown, developed and gotten experience. Theoretically the smaller school would benefit from potentially recruiting above their weight class so it could be a mutually beneficial relationship.

Even that seems unlikely, but your highly structured "farm system" idea is pretty far fetched
