Good in too many sports to go all in for on baseball, we’re not Miss State…

The SEC made a profit in MBB and the LSU got a cut of that profit merely by existing. That doesn’t mean a dollar spent on the MBB team is more valuable than a dollar spent on baseball.

No, but it does mean that, in $$$ terms, MBB is clearly more valuable than baseball. That is just how it is. The SEC gets an extra $2M for every NCAA tournament win by its men's teams.

To think of it another way, if every SEC team except Florida and Kentucky gutted their funding for MBB, the product on the court would be horrible, which affects NCAA tourney money and long term TV contracts with ESPN.

Thus, the SEC guidelines on rev share.

....because LSU is part of the SEC and we have a TV deal.

I guess you can say its valuable because its tangentially part of something valuable. But it has to be one of the least individual values of the whole.

Seems like I’m posting this 3-4x a week. Hopefully people will start to understand how much potential profit LSU is currently leaving on the table in MBB…

Bama MBB a few years ago was where LSU MBB currently is - profiting $1-2 million a year. Bama found the right coach and with their newfound success, profited $5.5 million two years ago and $9.5 million last year. LSU could reasonably double or triple the current profit without having to hit the high Bama achieved.

These baseball first LSU fans are so lame. How much more in on baseball could we possibly need to go

I feel like they won’t be happy until every sport other than football is shut down and all the extra money is given to baseball

Agreed. I would say LSU is "all in" on baseball already.

This is like Dave Roberts complaining to a reporter that the Dodgers don’t spend enough.

Outrageous.

Sad to hear Jay Johnson say that. He’s very out of touch

The fact that any women’s sport would receive more money then baseball is frickkg outrageous, never knew being good at women’s basketball would be so obnoxious and detrimental. Tell mullet to retire and don’t give it another dime

Go frick yourself. Mulkey is a legend and a winner and the visibility, packed houses, and national attention are more than worth any “money lost” which is cooked books anyway. The athletic department is doing fine and rolling in money.

You’re a dumb piece of shite. Do everyone a favor and quit posting.

This is understandable, but then you went off the deep end

There's not a coach in the country that wouldn't want the LSU job. Johnson isn't going anywhere.

You mean they haven’t? We have, I think, the best college coach, recruiter, portal manager in the league. Sending double digit players to the MLB yearly.

I’m not sure what, if not a new facility you could be referring to.

It’s exactly like that. Nobody invests more in college baseball than LSU does. It is a niche sport of niche sports and LSU promotes and invests in it heavily. How much more should they spend on it? Like seriously? It’s a non revenue sport. They lose money on it no matter how much they spend. Why sink more into it?

this implies a zero sum where you cant have all sports be good, you have to "decide".

I would be ok with basketball being good. baseball has enough titles.

Are we ever going to outspend Kansas or Michigan, or Duke in basketball?

Why put resources into a sport to at our peak be top 4 every couple of decades?

Vs investing in a sport we actually are the premier brand in.

Sammy, do you ever read other posts?

I've provided verifiable financials that there is a true blueprint to be hugely profitable in MBB, in addition to Football. Unless you think Alabama is a MBB School.

Those profits go back into the AD other sports.
