Last season Hollingsworth-Richards Ford had an NIL deal with Myles Brennan. This year it’s with Masson Smith.

Damn.

That’s what Switzer used to call a self-tacklization injury. That sucks for the kid.

This is going to be hard to overcome. He was set up to have a great year and now our DT depth will be severely tested.

After the injury - walking to the locker room, you could tell by his reaction, he knew it was bad.

If I'm a coach, I'm showing players this video.

Show the video of Ali Gaye as well. That was a textbook example of targeting and should be studied by all.

There is no reason for a 300lb dude to be jumping and landing on one foot to celebrate.

I mean it’s not like he did a full-on broad jump or something. He did a little hop and a fist pump. It’s a freak injury. It sucks but it’s not much of a teaching moment IMO.

tRant needs to figure out what they care about most. A dude that blew up the OLine to facilitate a play and jumped 6" in the air to celebrate or just tuning out as they accuse another player or coach.

He was probably the most indispensable player on the whole team. This is absolutely devastating. And not to excuse our terrible play, but I do think that had a pretty negative psychological effect on the entire team. It’s like it shell-shocked them.

And anyone blaming Smith for this injury is a fricking a-hole. He blew up a play on the 1st series of the 1st game of the season in a sold-out Superdome. Anybody with a pulse would have been full of adrenaline and been excited and jumped up. It was about as muted a “celebration” as you’ll ever see and was just a crazy, terrible luck, freak injury. He deserves zero blame and nothing negative thrown his way.

Knew something wasn't right. Never saw him return. Idiot FSU fan behind me was yelling, "Get him off the field! He's faking it! He's faking it!". I said really?? It's the 1st Quarter... score is 3-0, why would he be faking?

Hoping for a full recovery for Smith #0

That was a small celebration. He probably would've torn it eventually.

This took the wind out of the teams sails for a awhile last night. Not saying we would we have won with him, but the teams morale got hit in the gut when they saw him grab that leg. It is tough to lose a player of that category for what you know is for the season. You may say they didnt know but everybody does. My daughter went down over the summer with an acl and everybody knows.
