Just for clarity, his wife’s checking account was used to pay an ex-girlfriend of a former player that was extorting him.
I’m not implying that Wade was clean, but it was never proven that he was paying players. And certainly not from his own funds. There are basketball boosters.
Yes, and the same ridicule that is now appled to McMahon was applied to Wade of the payment from his wife's account, probably from some of the same posters who just lurk on this board to throw shite at any LSU coach. They always need a villain.

I said my peace. I'm done. Obviously I remember it was his wife's checking account. Are we really making that distinction. That argument. Like that makes any difference. I'm sure he had no idea and this was all his wife's doing without his knowledge. Anyway, I enjoyed his time here but it is time to move on.

You people are insufferable with your McMahon Derangement Syndrome.
Take a break from posting, maybe even a trip to church.

You morons on the rant are why YOU THINK he can't coach. It's repeated on here all the time.
His .700 winning % says otherwise, combined with the fact he's taken FOUR DIFFERENT schools to the NCAA tournament, and spoiler alert: is about to take a fifth school this year in Raleigh.
Oh, and he also IMMEDIATELY improves his team the first year he gets there. But keep on repeating the company line floating around you DORK.

very well said... everyone wanting Wade back wants that winning feeling back, but like you said, the playing field is more equal now... now you actually need to be able to coach, and Wade has never been known as a gtreat X's and O's guy...

He is at Ole Miss not exactly a hot bed of recruiting, check his career at Tx with real support

Ole miss is in no worse a situation than LSU for recruits. Beard is also making 3 million a year more than McMahon.

Ole Miss is historically the worst program in the SEC. He took them to the Sweet 16 last year (only the second time in program history) where they lost by 3 to Michigan St. he also took Texas Tech to within seconds of a national championship, and had a Final Four caliber team at Texas the year he was fired.
Needless to say, he’d be a MASSIVE upgrade over a guy whose biggest career accomplishment as a major conference HC is “being a good guy” and his teams “don’t give up”

I think Beard is the answer for an experienced coach that has been successful at a high level. Still young at 52. If not him really feels like you have to roll the dice with an up and comer from small school and hope you strike gold. Either way they will have to have the financial support to have a chance to be successful

You aren’t going to get any argument from me that Beard is a better coach than McMahon or that LSU is better historically. My argument is that beards results at ole miss would be similar to his results at LSU. Because the programs are similar by geographical proximity to recruiting hotbeds, and program investment.

Beard is a stone cold winner. However, he got a big raise from Ole Miss last offseason when Texas A&M was hunting for a coach. You’d have to pay a bunch of money. His salary is $5 million. Maybe he’d just rather coach at LSU but it won’t be cheap.

If you are looking for experienced, I agree. He’s also a good coach. His buyout is around 19 million and his current salary is about 6 million a year. So at minimum you’ll have to increase his salary and 4.5 million to buy him out of ole miss. You’ll also need to give some sort of commitment to NIL funds that is equivalent or greater than ole miss. Which I assume is similar to ours currently.
All that is to say that it would be a large investment into the basketball program for someone who will have made the tournament likely 1 of 3 years.
I think beard is a good coach, but I also can recognize the risk for the administration to ask for lots of funds for results they may be able to get for significantly less

Mr. Q4 is still not convinced

Such an outstanding observation, Dorothy.
College basketball is SQUEAKY CLEAN as far as the recruiting game has gone over the last 60 years.
Just a RARE, unscrupulous, renegade coach like Wade pops up occasionally, and tries to pay players. Historically, 90%+ of the top players went to school for just scholarship, room and board. I wish I had your insight.
I bet you think our 2019 football team was recruited cleanly also, right????
Has it ever occurred to your dumb arse that you can either run a clean program or win, but you can't do both?

Basketball isn’t football. The recruiting footprint is national because of so few roster spots. His team last year had one scholarship player from MS and two from Memphis. He would have been much better at LSU because of its national reach compared to Ole Miss.
I think that is maybe the biggest disconnect with LSU fans. They look at basketball through a football lens. The two sports aren’t the same. For numerous reasons.
