The make believe soap opera will never die for some of these people

In 2 days we've learned that:

A. Brad Stevens wants to leave his GM job with the most prestigious franchise in basketball history to, potentially, entertain coaching in college, for the first time in nearly 15 years, at LSU.

B. McMahon evidently has no say whatsoever in recruiting his roster. It's being constructed by a hidden figure (or group of hidden figures) no one knows about. So the losses really aren't his fault because he can't select his players. And now...

C. The donors are afraid to give money and the school is afraid to hire a new HC because they are worried about the HC being caught paying players again...at a time paying players is a required aspect of recruiting that even the schools themselves assist in

It’s like reading the most insane fan theories about a TV show or something. There’s literally zero information or logic to back any of it up and a lot of what’s actually known refutes it entirely. It’s right up there with “it’s the rims fault” and “we came within a week of canceling the season”

Yes i am aware. Look man, you're not getting the picture. Lsu hired a nobody coach, for a nobody program. Even with the NIL $, they aren't getting top tier talent. I gave you a million dollars to play at LSU, and someone else matched it to play at Kentucky, or Kansas, where are you going to go? If your answer is LSU, you're full of shite. Programs attract players. They all get paid. Get the picture? Lsu has never been an upper tier basketball program, and dont give this WW did this or that crap, and 2006 F4 coat tails. Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and even UGA are light years ahead of LSU. Why? Because those who run the program outside the building take, and already take the game seriously. I am going to give Verge and his crew a shot to see if they can turn it around. Woody, and Alleva set the program back. It ain't that hard to figure out dude.

I think we can all agree he should and will be gone if they don't make the tournament. until then I am still hoping for wins.
at some point, you have to acknowledge that this coach is not capable of getting us to where we all want to be.

So the faster he's gone, the better for the overall health of the program.

If that means we have to go 0-16 this year to convince Verge to act, so be it.

Short term pain for long term gain.

Yes, players are flocking to places like Vanderbilt and Georgia because of their prestigious basketball histories? Poor Matt just can't overcome that type of cache.

quote:

Lsu hired a nobody coach,

If LSU hired a "nobody" coach, then what did Florida do? The nobody LSU hired knocked the Florida HC out of the NCAAT that season.

The excuses to lay the blame on anyone but McMahon are getting circular now. I think we are about 4 more losses away from someone saying "You can't really judge him on this season. He only had 2 returning players".

The answer to why LSU basketball has been so bad over the last (going on) 4 seasons is the most simple and obvious one. McMahon is just not a good major conf. coach. Yet a small, but determined handful, want to flip over any and every rock to "prove" that isn't the case.

But here's just one example of how a bad coach is the source of terrible results...not matter how much prestige the program has or how much the school "cares". There are probably only few schools who care about basketball as much as Louisville. Certainly Louisville has prestige. So I doubt they had simply stopped giving a shite about the program when they hired Kenny Payne in 2022. What proceeded was two of the worst seasons in Louisville basketball history. This, despite signing some very highly rated classes. 12 wins...TOTAL....in 2 seasons. UL then hires some "nobody" from the College of Charleston and in year 1 alone he doubles the amount of wins the program had in the prior two years...combined.

Was that because UL took a 2 year break from caring about the program? Or was it because they made an awful coaching hire? It all falls at the coach.

well to be fair if he were underfunded he wouldn't be able to select the best players. and you cant disprove the evidence that he has been underfunded.

they aren't good enough

That this roster isn't good enough is an indictment on a coach who requested and was given the money to spend in a last-ditch attempt to upgrade the roster. The clock is ticking on his time here.

Wow that is a really terrible take

Nice attempt at a spin I guess. You are one of the staunch defenders of this regime that is incapable of winning. No one else here has defended this losing program more staunchly than you. Outside of the few bitch arse McMen left standing everyone else is ready to move onto a winner

What evidence is there that he HAS been underfunded? Don't worry, I'll answer for you:

1. An article penned by a guy who covers football recruting saying such with no actual supporitng evidence; and

2. The fact that he loses, a lot, so it can only be attributable to something else besides him simply being shitty coach.

Great gaslighting. What is this “turn around” business? He needs to go now.

He's probably underfunded because he keeps losing.

They finally pony up some money and what do we do? Give a million dollars to Rob miller who is playing 13 minutes a game. AND we are on track to finish bottom 4th again.

Woodward was running this program like a 6 year old's lemonade stand. Time to cleanse it of all his doings.

I don't think you know what gaslighting means.

I am saying what I have always said. that coach should be fired if he doesn't make the tournament.

now I know you want to be insane and angry and go fricking bonkers because that opinion is different than yours, but try to relax. its just sports. no name-calling is required, no psychotic nonsense.
