Everyone talking shite bc he went pro or bc he’s competing for Sweden can frick off. The fact of the matter is that 1) going pro was SUCH an obvious choice and 99% of the people on here would’ve done the same, and 2) he probably had to make a decision about what country to compete for for the 2020 Olympic cycle when he was like a sophomore or junior in HS, so the obvious choice (again) was the country where he knew he could make it. Sure he turned out good enough to have been able to make the US squad, but the Olympics are an absolute once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I would’ve done the same thing to lock up my spot.
This is all 100% correct. Anyone criticizing his decision is uninformed.

Are you surprised with these mouth breathers?

It's not like he moved to Sweden at a young age. Dude was born and raised in louisiana.
Hope Kendricks whoops his traitor arse at the olympics

Grow up. If your PlayStation broke, that doesn’t mean you get to hobnob with the grownups.

He made the choice that best assured he could compete at the one stage everyone that takes track with a modicum of sincerity dreams of. The US has the dumbest (but most entertaining) qualifying process. You can be the top vaulter for 3.5 years leading up to trials but have an injury, or just a bad day and not be guaranteed your spot on the team. That ain’t happenin in Sweden.

K cool. Doesn't change the fact that he was born and raised here and was coached by American coaches
I'll root for him to take home the silver

His mom is swedish and pretty sure he has swedish citizenship
And also, think his dad was his coach
But you are still dumb and ignorant

Never realized how many die hard track and field enthusiasts we have here. If anyone talking smack about his decision even thinks about pole vaulting more than once every four years, then I’m Usain Bolt.
Just be happy for the guy and proud that he’ll represent Louisiana and LSU in the world stage

Yep, just like Ben Simmons.
Every excuse in this thread about going pro for Mondo is an excuse for Ben.

Any ill will directed at Ben Simmons is likewise misguided. He came to college intending to be one and done and everyone knew it. He played hard for us but his talent was wasted by substandard coaching. I see no reason not to be proud of either of these young men.

If I’m not mistaken he chose to compete for Sweden because of the asinine way USTAF governs the sport and qualifying for the United States.

Amazing kid! Wish he was vaulting for the USA

You are correct sir. I have never understood the hatred shown towards Ben Simmons.
Having this thread is like Ben saying "Mondo and I have taken the same exact path, take that HATERS!!!!"
